Chapter 31

I'm in the theatre, Pea sat next to me, Cheryl and Josie on stage. She smiles at Pea
"Hi Sweet Pea" Pea moves in his seat uncomfortably and takes my hand
"I really don't like her" I scowl at her
"In this sene the gym teacher Mrs Gardener is being a friend when our girl has none out of kindness"
"I'll fake it as best as I can" Josie says and the music starts playing, she starts singing
"Stop stop stop" Cheryl interrupts
"Ok Cheryl I'm the only one who is allowed to stop"
"I can't do this, have you hating me while we're singing about friendship I know everything I did was legit crazy Josie but I was wrestling with some dark Carrie white like demons. I'm so so sorry so please please forgive me" they hug and become friends again.

"Ughhh" I groan
"You ok there El?" I put my hand to my mouth and run to the trash can. I feel hands moving my hair and a hand on my back. Once I'm finished throwing up I look up to Toni who is once again smiling. I look at Cheryl who is also smiling, then Kevin, Veronica, Fangs, Jug and even Pea
"What is going on. Why is everyone staring at me and smiling?"
"Baby I think your pregnant"
"What? No we've been carful. I can't be"
"Have you not noticed how you've been really sick recently and you keep eating oranges? They were your craving last time" Toni says walking up to me
"But how.."
"I think you know how, but when two people love each other..." Fangs starts
"Ew shut up" I hit him gently "you guys really think I could be pregnant?" I ask and everyone nods their heads
"You wanna go to the doctors to make sure?" Pea asks. I look back at Kevin
"It's ok. Go. We will cover for you and Sweet Pea" I smile him and take Peas hand.

"Well?" Toni says as Pea and I walk into the theatre the next day. Everyone is on stage rehearsing
"I'm pregnant" I say with a smile on my face. Toni screams and runs off the stage to hug me
"Congratulations eeee I'm so happy"
"Ok stays between us in here ok, at least for now. I'm looking at you Josie, Chuck and Ethel" Cheryl walks up to me and hugs me which takes me by surprise
"Unfortunately I can't let you cheer now but your always welcome to sit in"
"Thanks Cheryl"
"Ok now we've had exciting news let's carry on with rehearsals" Kevin says as Pea and I make our way over to Fangs. Fangs fills us in on what we missed this morning, turns out Betty and Veronica have had a huge argument. We watch the rest of the rehearsals for today, the whole time I can't stop smiling thinking about my little Pea.

After weeks of rehearsal the day of the show finally came. I'm backstage helping with hair, makeup and last minuet costume issues. Cheryl was replaced by Midge to play Carrie as Cheryl has been threatened
"Hey El have you seen Fangs?" Kevin asks while I'm doing Bettys hair
"Erm no not since I did his hair sorry" I shrug "ok all done. I'm going to go take my seat with Pea" I say. I making my way around the stage to Sweet Pea who saved a seat for me and for my dad
"Dad not here yet?"
"No haven't seen him" I take his hand and lean on him I sigh feeling content "you good?" Pea asks me placing his other hand on my stomach
"Never better" I peck his lips.

Finally the curtains go up and we start watching the performance. Once Alices song comes up I feel as though I'm falling asleep
"Alright Carrietta it's time for you to come out of your closet" Alice says
"Hey sleepyhead you need to wake up" Pea whispers while nudging me
"Sorry. I can't stay awake past 8 these days" I whisper back. There's suddenly a load of gasps, I look up and lean over to Kevin
"Errr why isn't she singing? Did you change this scene?"
"Erm no"
"Somebody should help her. For god sake help her" Cheryl yells. I stand up and walk over to the stage
"Babe what are you doing?" Pea now stands up. I place my hand on her neck, immediately feeling like I'm gonna puke. I look at Alice with tears in my eye shaking my head as Alice starts screaming
"Ella" Pea yells walking over to me pulling me off the stage as everyone else starts running out. Fangs and Toni join us making sure that I don't get hurt. Once outside I start puking my guts out and shaking
"Let's get you home yeah?" Toni says putting her jacket over me
"El" Jug shouts. I turn to see Jug running to me holding on to Betty
"Are you going back to ours or peas?" I shrug unable to speak
"I'll take her to yours. She will probably want to be with FP" Pea says
"I'll meet you there"

Later that evening there's a knock on the door and we are all taken to the police station to give statements
"So after you did her hair and makeup you what?" Sheriff Keller asks
"I left to do Bettys hair" I say
"Why did you walk on stage to check to see if she was alive? Could have been part of the play"
"I helped Kevin and Fangs with the play. I knew what the scenes were and I asked Kevin if there was a last minute change and he said no. No one else was going to check on her so I did"
"Thank you Ella your free to go" I get up and walk out the station to see Sweet Pea
"Hey" I say being immediately wrapped up in his arms
"Everything's going to be ok"
