Chapter 28

"You ready?" Pea asks pulling his shirt on
"Yeah" I call from the bathroom finishing my makeup. I grab my jacket
"Bye mum" Pea says kissing his mum on the head
"Bye Anna" I say hugging her
"Bye guys have a good day at school" Pea and I get on his bike.
Once we arrive at school we go to our Serpent meting. Pea sits on a desk as I sit at on the seat in between his legs. Jug walks in with Betty
"Here he's is" Pea comments I hit his knee playfully
"What is your problem Sweet Pea?"
"What's my problem?" Pea stands up "you promise us a war then you're on stage looking like buddy holly sucking up to the Northside?"
"We need those votes Sweet Pea it's the only way we can effect change whoever's elected gets on the school board which means we will be on the inside they can't silence us"
"You and the Northside Princess?" Fangs pops up "we already have a Princess we don't need another one, especially a Northside one"
"Wait is that why you guys are pissed? Bettys on our side"
"Yeah I've helped the Serpents on numerous occasions. I helped find the Pickens statues head. I got Cheryl to testify in court so FP your king could get early parole..."
"You did all that for your boyfriend not the Serpents" Pea says
"Ella?" Jug says asking if I could help
"I'm sorry Juggie but I kinda agree with Pea. Would Betty have ever done any of that for us if you weren't dating?" I shrug
"See your own sister agrees"
"Alright pipe down Sweet Pea"
"What? It's only a matter of time before she bails on us like her mother"
"Ok so your objections aren't even about me they are about my mum" I rub my temples beginning to get a headache
"He legacy yeah. She's an enemy of the Serpent state. Taking shots at us in the register for years blaming us for their crimes, crimes we didn't commit" I lift up my head and look at Fangs who shrugs "running with a turncoats daughter is a slap in the face, and for that reason alone your not getting the Serpent vote"
"Just because your dating my sister doesn't mean you get to run the Serpents. In case you forgot it's our dad who's in charge"
"Don't" I say shaking my head looking at Jug. He ignores me and carries on pointing at Pea
"Not your dad ours"
"Jughead that's enough" I slam my hands down on the table raising my voice, I think it shocked a few Serpents "the way your carrying on the Serpents won't even survive. You've been in this game for what 5 months and now you think you can sit here and be king. I love you Jug but you need to chill" I walk over to Pea who wraps me up in his arms and we walk out.

Toni runs up to us out of breath
"El I need to talk to you"
"Erm ok?" She takes my hand and starts speed walking. I look back at Pea and give him a sorry look, but he returns with a smile
"What's going on?" We arrive in the gym where the river vixens are
"Cheryls missing" Toni says putting her hands on her hips
"Oooo I knew it. You like Cheryl" I start yelling getting excited "finally my Toni is getting some"
"El did you just happen to miss the part where I said she's missing?" Toni raises her eyebrow at me
"Sorry"
"What do you mean she's missing?" Josie asks
"Do you remember how paranoid Cheryl was at her slumber party?"
"Errr sorry to interrupt but I wasn't there so why am I here now?"
"Because I need you but listen she was saying her mum and uncle were out to get her. Well I think they did something to her"
"What? What kind of something?" Josie says
"Her mum said that they sent her off of to some all girls boarding school in Switzerland"
"Well that's easy to check because there's only one. Surval Montreux" of course Veronica would know that
"Wait this is Cheryl we're on about. It would would be all over social media" I cross my arms
"El is right if Cheryl was in the Swiss alps she'd be posting parka selfies every hour"
"So you don't believe her mum?" I ask now becoming intrigued
"No. Her social media has been dead for days"
"And you care about her. I knew it" I smile "I guess it's just Kevin I need to help set up now seeing as you don't need my help"
"Princess focus" Toni snaps, I roll my eyes still smiling
"Well whatever you need Toni I'm in" Veronica days
"Me too" Josie says. Toni looks at me
"Well obviously I'm in. I can't let my best friend do this on her own now can I?"
"Meet me outside after school. We will go over to thistle house" Toni says. I walk out the gym and find Sweet Pea at his locker with Fangs
"Hey. Is Toni ok?"
"Yeah, but her girlfriend is missing"
"Girlfriend?" Fangs asks
"When we were at the movies we saw Toni and Cheryl sit together and I wanted to set them up, but it looks like nature has already worked it's magic"

"Now that you've barged you're way in, go ahead girls ask your questions"
"You said Cheryl was away at some boarding school?" Toni says
"Honestly I'm not in the habit of explaining myself to school girls"
"Maybe not Mrs Blossom but you may have heard that my mother is dating Sheriff Keller" Josie says I look at Toni confused, wow I've miss a lot
"If you won't tell us the truth then maybe you'll tell him"
"Alright then. The truth is that Cheryl started exhibiting strange deviant behaviour. So I sent her abroad to a wellness institute where they're trying to help her. You don't have to believe me but here let me show you something" she hands a piece of paper to Josie. Immediately she looks terrified
"Oh my god"
"She's draw dozens like it"
"I don't understand" Veronica says
"Neither do I" I say
"No but Josie does don't you?" Mrs Blossom slightly smiles "Cheryl was obsessed with you to the point where I was afraid she might hurt you or herself or both. So if you'd like me to tell that to your mother and her boyfriend and show them and the town Cheryls drawings of you I'd be happy to. But I hope you girls have the decency to keep this private" Josie stands up and walks out quickly.

"Slow down we need to regroup" Toni says running after her. I just walk out catching up to the them when they stop
"If what Mrs Blossom says is even a tiny bit true that means Cheryl threatened me. Sent me a bloody pigs heart"
"What what?" I mean I know I don't like Josie but that's freaky
"I'm out you guys I'm done" we watch her walk off. I turn to Toni and Veronica
"Come on I'll drop you home Veronica" Toni says
"I'll see you later at the Whyte Wyrm T" I place my hand on her shoulder then get on my bike, riding straight to Peas.
