• chapter 21: han jisung's cheesecakes

"I shouldn't have let you switching places with me," I turned to Jeongin. He pouted. "You're not listening."

I glanced at the opened book in front of me, sheepishly smiling at him. "Sorry."

"Do you have a thing for windows or what? And it's raining."

"Rain makes me feel things." I shortly replied and leaned on the chair. "You were saying?"

"The Korean history," he said, pointing at the title printed on the top of the page. Jeongin is actually a really hardworking boy. It was raining and the teachers were having a meeting. Most of the students were sleeping or playing games in their phones while there's me, dragged into Jeongin's studying session. He continued, "This is the easiest topic to remember than the others so I suggest you to memorize this first."

I just nodded meekly. Since the day my father told me I didn't do enough in my English test, something inside me instantly dropped. I don't feel like studying anymore. I did my best and if that was all I could do and my father couldn't accept it,

My inspiration has gone.

I think I don't suit studies.

"You're spacing out again, Hyemi. What's on your mind?"

"Nothing," I pulled the history book closer to me. "Just wondering how I'd do this."

As he was about to reply, Felix suddenly came in. "We're eating some cheesecakes Jisung bought. Let's go."

Jeongin's eyes sparkled but then when he remembered he was teaching me, his smile turned into a frown. "But I'm teaching Hyemi."

"It's fine, just go." I waved my hand towards him. I need a nap anyways.

Felix turned to Seungmin, "You?"

The guy hummed, cleaning his desk before going straight to the outside. "You can join too, Hyemi. You're a friend." Felix smiled to me.

My eyes widened a bit before shaking my head no. "Really, it's fine. I'll be taking a-"

"Cool! Let's go!" Jeongin suddenly pulled my hand and dragged me outside. Felix laughed as he walked ahead us.

"Jeongin talks so much about you. I feel like you're already a part of us." Felix stated.

Jeongin smacked his head from behind. "Shut up, hyung."

I narrowed my eyes to the younger boy. Jeongin nervously laughed and ran off before I say anything. This kid is really a cute troublesome boy.

When we arrived, Felix offered me a seat beside him. It was a bit awkward at first sitting with these five guys but being the social butterflies they are, I think we clicked in no time.

Jisung gave me another plate of blueberry cheesecake when he saw my empty plate. "Try this one! You won't regret it!"

"You'll automatically be a cheesecake lover if you are friends with Jisung." Felix joked, earning a smug look from the other.

"Oh, did Hyemi get the plain one?" Hyunjin showed me the small container of the half-eaten plain cheesecake.

"Yes, thank you for that."

"Hyemi is being so polite now I wonder why," Jeongin wondered, licking the cream on his spoon. "Right, Seungmin hyung?"

Seungmin stopped eating and threw a questioning look to the youngest among us six. "What do you mean?"

"Nothing." Jeongin chuckled, sending me a wink which I gladly replied with a kick under the table.

"Hyungs! She kicks me!"

Felix raised a hand to me, "High five."

"Felix is on my side." I laughed while giving him a high five.

Hyunjin shook his head. "I'm with Jeongin. Poor my babyyyyy" he cooed, pinching Jeongin's cheeks.

"I love you Jeongin but Hyemi here is more stronger than you so," Jisung shrugged, giving me a heart finger. This guy, I swear he could snatch every girl's hearts.

Jeongin pouted, turning to Seungmin. "What about you?"

"Hyemi." he replied nonchalantly, stuffing the cheesecakes in his mouth. I felt my face heats up so I quickly busied myself by finishing the cheesecake. What is this?

Jeongin gasped along with Hyunjin. "You betray me!"

"Isn't that what you want?" Seungmin shot back. "You want me to get along with her."

What?

The air suddenly tensed. Jisung slowly moved his eyes to the cheesecake to hide his shocked expression. Hyunjin, who was sitting in front of him blinks a few times with the plastic spoon in his hand, a confused look appeared on his face. I couldn't look up to Jeongin since he sits beside Seungmin so I just ignored what he just said.

"Why would he wants you to get closer with Hyemi?" Felix, the only one who didn't sense the tense asks.

There was no reply from anyone until one of the staffs came to us. "I made extra brownies today!"

Jisung and Felix's eyes lit up hearing that. "Thanks Mrs Shu!" Jisung exclaimed while taking the brownies in his hand.

"Brownie brownie brownie, brownie brownie brownie~"

"I could hear Minho hyung's voice calling you brownie boy." Hyunjin stated, earning a cheeky look from the freckled guy.

They started to talk again, completely forgetting the tense atmosphere just now. For some reason I feel a bit relief but I want to know what Seungmin meant. How did he find out about that?

Oh no. I don't want him to think me as an annoying girl who's still crushing on him. All I want to do is doing what Jeongin wants for his hyung. Maybe there's still a hope in me to be close with Seungmin but I don't want to get the hope high. What if at the end it will only crush me?

"Hyemi, I'm so sorry about that." Jeongin whispered with the tone of sadness visible in his voice.

"It's fine. It's not your fault."

He lowly sighed, "I don't know why he was being like that. The usual cheery Seungmin has gone after the incident. I don't think he hasn't moved on yet."

I smiled a bit at his statement. It hurts to hear that, but I don't have a solid reason to be jealous. He was just a mere crush, nothing more.

"Let me guess, you still wanna see if I could bring him back?" I asked, glancing to the side to make sure Seungmin is not hearing any of this conversation.

As I expected, he nodded.
