Valeriana groan and opened her eyes. The bright light made her squint her eyes, nang maayos na ang paningin niya ay tumayo na siya sa pagkakahiga. She felt the mattress softness when she rise up. She looked around in the plain white room that she was in. The room was wide and the bed was in the middle making her feel awkward all of a sudden. Why the hell am I sleeping in the center of the room? She thought. Nang tumayo siya ay saktong pag bukas ng pinto. Prof. Ellen was holding a tray with foods when she saw Val standing. She instantly ran towards her and made her sit on the bed. "Why are you standing up? How are you feeling?" She asked the young lady.
Val was taken a back by the woman action so she took a while to respond. "I'm feeling fine now." She answered simply. Prof. Ellen sigh in relief. "Thank goodness the black gaeze didn't affect your body that much." The professor smiled at her. She looked at the side of the bed and Val noticed it. "You can sit down if you like." Val said making the professor eyes glitter. "I'll take you up on that offer." She said before sitting beside her. Val cannot take the awkwardness that was building up so she looked at the door. She was amazed at what she saw. I'm not still asleep right? The tray that was Prof. Ellen was holding earlier was floating in the air like someone invisible was there holding it still. She looked at Prof. Ellen and points at the floating tray. "Isn't that the tray you were holding earlier?" She asked.
Prof. Ellen looked at what she was pointing and realized that she left the tray behind when she rushed towards Val. "Oh, right. I forgot about that." Prof. Ellen said before waving her hand and the tray moved on its own toward the professor! Val was shocked. She rubbed her eyes multiple times but the tray was still floating in their middle. The professor laughed at her reaction. "Is it your first time witnessing something out of the world?" Val nodded aggressively. "I never knew magic exist. Are you sure I'm not on a dream, professor?" She asked doubtful. The professor chuckled. "You're not dreaming, Valeriana. This is what people may call magic but we call it Sei. It's similar to magic but not quite." The professor explained.
Val looked interested at what the professor said and asked if she could tell her more about the so called Sei. The professor smiled gently. "The information about us is confidential but I guess I can spill a little with you." Val smiled widen. "Thank you professor!" She said happily. "But I have a condition." Val looked at the professor with questioning eyes. "What is it?" She asked while her head was tilted on the side. The professor got taken a back at her cuteness. Val notice it and subconsciously grins in her mind. She's rather easy to manipulate. The professor fake a cough before getting her composure back. "I'd like you to drop the formalities." The professor said that made Val quite surprised. Is that really it? Val managed to fake a cute smile in front of the professor and nodded. "I can do that! What would you like me to call you?" She asked. "Ellen is fine." Val smile again. "Ellen it is. Val is alright, no need to word out my full name, it's quite mouthful." The professor laughed in agreement.
"Anyway. Where should I start?" Ellen started to think and she smiled happily when she thought of something. "My sister was a genius and a playful one. I cannot even compare how high her iq was even though we're twins. She was quite an adventurous lad and travell quite a lot. One day she stumbled upon a runic dungeon that was deep in the underground. When she found out about the entrance of the dungeon she called us in a hurry. There were six of us in the group that was ready to enter the dungeon, all of us were familiar with how adventurous my sister was and they were shocked to know that she literally found a runic dungeon that she was aiming for all the times she travelled. We all thought that it was an aimless journey but she prove us wrong." The professor seemed happy while telling her the story so she did not dare to even make a sound. "When we entered the dungeon we thought we would stumbled on scattered traps but suspiciously the trap was all disarmed. We search all of the areas the dungeon has to offer but we found nothing but a writings on the wall that we cannot understand. Even my sister didn't have a clue what was written on the walls. We decided to spent one night inside the dungeon when we were sure nothing dangerous would happen to us, to try and decipher the writings on the wall. When we were setting up a camp my sister dragged me around the dungeon again. She was diligently searching for something when she stop outside a room where a coffin made in gold reside. I was surprised that we didn't saw the room when we made rounds to secure the area, yet my sister found it."
"I asked her how did you she knew that there was a room like this? She said that a voice was calling her, so she decided to follow the voice instructions and stumbled into the room. Although I was worried at first when she proposed we enter the room she still manage to pursued me from entering. She instantly opened the gold coffin on her own with her brute strength and looked inside. To our surprise there was nothing inside but an old scroll and a creepy looking black ring with writings around it. We took all we saw inside the room and left, when we got back from our group the camp was already in place. We shared what we discovered with the group but my sister did not mentioned the old scroll and black ring to them, at that time I didn't had any suspicious towards my sister because I trust her. All throughout the night she avoided the group suspicious and when its time to sleep I saw her going somewhere on her hand was the scroll and she was wearing the black ring. When she went and check on all of us I pretended to be asleep and let her leave and when I decided it was the right time to follow her all of us rise up. We looked at each other and thought of the same, my sister was acting strange. We followed her through the deepest part of the dungeon that we didn't even knew about. I felt creep out and scared when she stopped in the middle of an altar underground the dungeon. We let her do some ritual and decide to not take action until she read out the things written on the the scroll. It was too late when we decided to stop her she was already not in control of her own body. The ring on her finger let out an dark mist making us take a retreat a little. We cannot came close to her because of the mysterious black mist, but one of us bravely charged in and it had no effect on him so we all decided to follow after him. We charged inside the black mist and charge at my sister who's in the middle of the thickening black mist. She put up a fight when they tried to pin her down to take the ring of her finger when they succeed they suddenly lose consciousness and fell on the ground. I was feeling dizzy back then but before I lost my consciousness I saw my sister holding a white and black ball on her hand. When we recover from the accident my sister went back to her usual self or so we thought. After a month she started making crazy experiments and she was researching relentlessly, after a year of observing her one by one we help her out of worry and we were also curios on what the hell could a black and white ball do. After 10 years of researching aimlessly we were about to give up when my sister bring us a shocking news. She said she managed to successfully done her experiment and said she didn't need us anymore. The others pack up with her words and left, there were only three of us left. We decided to be by her side to continue watching the balls progress. She was planning to make a human with extraordinary abilities with the help of the two extraordinary balls she received back at the runin dungeon. The balls that was soon after named Origins were the source of the power inside of these humans and we call that power, Sei, while the people that has been born by the power of Orgins are know as Codes. We were successful but many sacrifice were made." Ellen stopped after her story and looked at her wrist. She stand up and smiled at Val who's still caught up on her story. "I still have something to do. I'll see you later, Val. Eat your food before going to bed again." She reminded before leaving Val alone in the room, confused as hell to her story. Is she for real with that story?
