Chapter 24

Nakauwi na kami sa bahay and panot drive me home. I thank him and went inside the house. I saw mom talking someone over the phone. I did't mean to interrupt but their conversation made me curious.

"Yes, I did not tell Annixa yet. She's must not know about our plan." there's a long pause before she talks again, "I know. I want to-" she suddenly saw me leaning on the doorstep while listening to their conversation.

"Kanina ka pa ba diyan?" she look nervous like she said something that she does'nt want me to hear.

"Just a minute ago. Who are you talking to?" I curiously ask her. I did'nt want to interfere but I heard my name and that made me curious.

I saw her na biglang nagkukulikot ng kung ano-ano sa lamesa. I know that she's just trying to avoid my question.
I rolled my eyes at aakyat na lang sana papunta sa kwarto ng tawagin ako nito ulit.

"Wait sweetheart," pigil sa akin ni mom pero napantig ang tenga ko sa tinawag nito sa akin. It's been a long time since she called me that endearment. I miss the old you mom.

Lumingin ulit ako sa gawi nito and she motion me to sit down. I sighed and decided to sit down opposite to her. I waited for her to speak up but she's just staring at my face and smiling like an idiot. Sorry, mom but 'yon ang mukha mo ngayon. I secretely laugh.

After a long silence, I asked her.

"What is it mom? Mayroon ba kayong sasabihin sa akin?" I asked. I stand up and decided to get some water. Naunhaw ako sa paghihintay sa sasabihin ni mom.

I get a glass and pour a water on it after that I drink it. I wash the glass and put it back on the cabinet and I sat down again. I heard mom sighing a couple of times.

"Nothing. I'm just going to ask you... Ahm, how's your day?" she suddenly asked me those questions that made me shock. It's been a long time since you ask me how I'm doing mom. Ba't ngayon lang? Bumaba ang tingin ko sa lamesa at hindi makayang tingnan ang titig ni mom. I don't want her to see my eyes that full of angered and loneliness.

Garagal akong sumagot ngunit hindi ko pinahalata dito, "I'm fine mom. I'm always fine." I tried to hide my sob but I know that it could'nt last any minute kaya dali-dali akong tumayo at umakyat papunta sa kwarto. I saw her trying to reach my hands but she's too late. Nakaakyat na ako at nakapasok sa kwarto.

I cover my eyes using my two hands when my tears starting to flow down.

After an hour of crying, I stared on the top of my bed and starting reminiscing. Pagkatapos, hindi ko alam kung anong oras ako nakatulog dahil pagkagising ko umaga na. I stand up at pumasok sa toilet. Nahagip ng aking mga mata ang salamin kaya huminto muna ako at tiningnan ang sarili sa salamin.
