"Frank, truth or dare?"

"Hmm... dare," Frank grinned.  He was ready for whatever challenge Brendon would throw at him.

"Okay," Brendon thought for a moment, his eyes scanning the other players.  "Okay, I dare you to switch places with Patrick -- in your bands."

"Wait, so I'd become Fall Out Boy's lead singer and rhythm guitarist?" Frank asked incredulously.

"And I'd become the rhythm guitarist for My Chemical Romance, which is basically what I do anyway, besides sing," Patrick said.  "I guess it's not that bad of a switch... taking our main skill and instead doing our other skill."

"Wait! How long is this switch?" Pete asked.  He knew he was gonna miss Patrick, no matter how long the switch was.

"Just for a day," Brendon answered.

"Okay then! We switch bands starting tomorrow," Frank said.

Tomorrow

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

"What's up guys?" Frank asked as he walked into Fall Out Boy's room.  He gasped in surprise.  "Oh... oh wow! You guys have tattoos, too!!" "Yep," Andy said, taking off his shirt to display the tattoos on his body as well as his arms.  "Dude, awesome," Frank breathed.  "I think I'm gonna like it here."

Patrick headed over to the dining table, where Ray, Mikey, and Gerard were sitting.  "Hi guys," he greeted.  Suddenly, his eyes widened.  "Oh!" "What?" Ray asked.  "I... I'm not used to having band mates without tattoos..." Patrick explained.  "Ohh!" the Way brothers said.  They looked at Ray, waiting for him to agree.  "Well... I do have a tattoo... here." Ray showed them the side of his arm, where an "SL" was tattooed.  "It stands for Stage Left, my position in live shows," he explained.  "Well, having one is better than having ten!" Patrick smiled.  "I think I'm gonna like it here."

"So, when is our first practice?" Frank asked.  He was eager to show off his singing skills.  "We can practice right now," Pete replied, handing Frank a setlist.  "Uh... Jet Pack Blues ? Grand Theft Autumn (Where is Your Boy) ? What are these?" Frank asked.  "Fall Out Boy songs, of course!" Pete answered.  "Oh... I... I don't know them..." Frank trailed off.  He saw the glances Pete, Andy, and Joe exchanged, and added, "But I'll try my best." The Fall Out Boy members started up a song, and Frank began to sing lyrics from a page:

I've got those jet pack blues, just like Judy--

"Whoa whoa whoa!" Pete cried.  "One, your voice... it's a little..." he stopped himself before saying something hurtful to his new singer.  "I guess I'm used to Patrick singing," he confessed.  "Two, we were playing A Little Less Sixteen Candles, A Little More Touch Me.  Completely different." Frank looked crestfallen.  "Oh." "Don't worry, you'll figure it out," Andy said comfortingly, placing a hand on Frank's shoulder.

Meanwhile, Patrick, the Ways, and Ray were also practicing songs.  "Okay, first up, we're doing You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us In Prison ," Gerard said.  "Here's your part of the song." He handed Patrick a piece of paper, and Patrick began to play his guitar.  "Ooh, good," Gerard nodded.  "Wanna try it with the others and my vocals?" he asked.  "Actually, I'd like to practice for a little bit," Patrick said.  "Sure," Gerard sat down, and they waited as Patrick tried out the tune.  After a few minutes, he said, "Okay, I'm ready!"

"In the middle of a gunfight..." Gerard sang.  "In the center of a restaurant," Patrick added, singing as well.  Gerard held up his hands.  "Um, Patrick, you're not supposed to sing... I mean, Frank DID sing, but it was more backup vocals than anything."

"OMG! Imagine you two doing DESTROYA," Mikey grinned -- a rare show of emotion -- and Gerard blushed.  "Uh, it's not like that..." he said quickly.  "Well you and Frank sang DESTROYA -- both literally and metaphorically -- so why not you and Patrick?" Mikey pressed.  "No Geetrick, okay?" Gerard snapped.  "Let's get back to Prison."

At the end of the day, both Frank and Patrick were wondering why they'd agreed to switch.  Even though Pete, Andy, and Joe were nice enough, Frank knew they weren't used to his voice, and he didn't even know the lyrics to Fall Out Boy songs.  Patrick liked the Way brothers, and especially Ray -- they shared a sweet personality -- but he missed being the main vocalist.  Most of all, the two switched band members missed their band boyfriends, Pete and Gerard.  Their only comfort was that tomorrow, they'd be back with their usual bandmates.

The Next Day...

-------------------------------------------------------

"Look alive, sunshine," Ray shook Patrick awake.  The small fedora man yawned.  "Morning, Ray," he said cheerfully.  "Wait, isn't today the day we go back!?" Patrick sat up.  "Yep! Honestly, I'm gonna miss you," Ray admitted.  "You're so nice!" "Aww, you too!" Patrick replied, pulling Ray into a hug.  "Friends?" he inquired.  "Of course!" Ray said.

Meanwhile, Frank was already up and Ready To Go.  "You're going already?" Pete asked.  Frank chuckled.  "If you miss me, I'm just a room away! It's not like we live in different houses!" (In these fanfics I've been writing, the Emo Trinity lives in the same house, lol.) He slipped out the door before Pete could say more.

"GEE!" Frank burst into MCR's room, wrapping his arms around Gerard.  "FRANKIE!" Gerard cried, returning the embrace.  Ray and Mikey exchanged glances.  "You... uh... might wanna get outta here before it gets... awkward," Ray whispered to Patrick.  Patrick nodded in understanding, looking slightly pale, and grabbed his fedora before dashing out of the room and closing the door.

He headed into FOB's room, next door, and the others greeted him.  "Hey Patrick!" "Hi guys," he replied, walking over to Pete and hugging him.  Ray may have been his friend, but Pete... well, he was something more.

(NOTE: I ship several ships with the same person -- for example, Ryden/Brallon and Petekey/Peterick.  I'm gonna be putting them throughout my stories, which could get weird... you have Petekey in one story and Peterick in another, or Ryden/Brallon might be in different stories.  Hope it isn't too confusing :D)

As nice as it was to be back with their own bandmates, Frank and Patrick couldn't help but think about their brief experience with the other's band.  Still, nothing beat being amongst familiar friends.
