Fiona practically lived at Tom's hotel, going back and forth to school, spending a few hours in her dorm to get her work done. She couldn't concentrate with Tom in the same room, or even just within walking distance. On nights she had exams or a lot of school work she slept in her small bed, texting Tom most of the time.

Her schoolwork suffered a bit. She was usually an A student and now she was a B, B-. She wasn't really worried about it, average is good, she kept telling herself. Part of her thought, well if she traveled with Tom, when would she even use her teaching degree. Then she had to remind herself that even though she was sure about him, and him about her, it could still not work out.

Fiona and Tom had been dating now, officially since October and it was only a month in. They pretty much just had sex all the time, as most new couples do, and sat in his hotel talking about their lives.

Fiona parked in the garage of the hotel and detoured around to the cafe across the street
She called her mom to gossip about Tom. It was 9am, so noon in New York. The phone rang a few times and then here mom picked up. She wondered why he chose to drive to the hole in the wall cafe in the first place when there was one just a few steps away

"Hello" her mom answered, slightly annoyed.

"Oh hey, it's me. Sorry were you busy?" Fiona asked. Her mom was always busy so it depended on what level of busy she was today.

"No. Just cleaning up after your cats, Fi," her mom complained. Fiona had her own apartment during her undergrad but now that she was away, they would be staying with her mom for a few months. "But what's up?"

"Nothing... me and Tom are officially dating now," her cheeks blushed bright red.

"Oh? I haven't heard about him in a while," her mom replied.

"Well, yeah, I just haven't mentioned it. We just had an issue that we worked out, but it's been 2 months now. There's a lot that's expected of him, he has a very busy life," she checked her watch as she waited in line, "and to be honest I don't know how easy it'll be, but he wants to make it work. And obviously I do too."

"Well that's good, I guess. I mean he's an actor right? He'll be around a lot of gorgeous actresses. I don't want you to get hurt," her mom always went down the negative road. She meant well. Her mom had married a man that turned out to be toxic and she was very nervous her daughter's would follow that path. Traci did more times than not, but Fiona didn't really have any memories of her father so she had no idea what traits she could subconsciously choose.

"I know, I know. Obviously I have no way of knowing the future. But he's different. He made this romantic speech the other night
and he wants to meet you guys and he wants me to go to London to meet his family," she beamed, remembering the words he spoke to her.

Her mom went on about not rushing into anything, while Fiona covered the microphone and ordered a latte and a plain coffee for Tom.

"Mom, I don't even have a passport. I'm not running away with him," she rolled her eyes and then teased, "at least not for another 6 to 8 weeks."

Fiona had no idea how long it took to get a passport and figured that was something she would look into this week. Just so she was ready when he asked her to go.

"Well I'm happy for you babe. Can you send me a picture? I can't get my computer on and I'll forget when I get to work tomorrow to search his name, what was it again?"

Her mom worked with computers all day for over 30 years but was so dense when it came to using the internet. Fiona found her typing Google into her folder address bar and getting angry when it didn't find what she was looking for.
