"You look beautiful," Tom said as Fiona emerged from the hotel bathroom. Even though they lived less than an hour away, the hotel was under a mile and would ensure they would get there on time. Fiona was unsure of what to wear so she chose an elegant, but not too fancy, black and white halter dress.
"Thanks," she blushed. Tom was even more good looking in his matching suit that it made Fiona swoon. "You look really, really, handsome."
She bit her lip and smiled, memorized by his smooth face and short hair again. He cleaned up really well, she thought, but now seeing it suddenly go from one to the other, she realized how much of a baby he was without a beard.
Tom watched as she wrapped the straps of her heels around her ankles. The thin black sandals started some naughty visions in Tom's head. Seeming to have similar thoughts, Fiona looked up at him with a sexy smirk.
Tom shook his head, trying to push the naked, heeled images from his head. He hadn't been to a lot of premieres and never ones where he was part of the main cast in an already blockbuster film. Having Fiona by his side was definitely a plus than going by himself, but he knew she was probably just as nervous.
. . .
With a few short interviews along the red carpet, Tom was managing to do it on his own with Fiona trailing behind, following him with his team of publicists and assistants. Melanie was more welcoming this time; she was surprisingly more relaxed than at the talk show.
Melanie had to step in a few times to keep Tom on track, only allowing a minute and a half for each mini interview. Some fans waved from behind the barricades and were trying to get him to come over. Melanie shook her head at him, but after a moment he ran over to the fans and signed their posters or took photos with them. Melanie was bothered, but ultimately he had the final say.
Fiona's heart raced watching all the people, both men and women alike, fawn over Tom. She was starting to see what a big time heart throb actor he was.
Melanie led Fiona forward, without Tom, to a group of photographers.
"You know I'm no one famous right?" Fiona asked Melanie, who told her to smile for the flashing photographers. "You're Tom's date, that's all they care about."
As Fiona smiled awkwardly, Melanie went around to the photographers and was handing them little cards. Fiona learned later that they had Tom and her information on them for proper reporting.
Tom laughed at Melanie's angry face as he joined Fiona on the last part of the carpet. Tom put his arm on Fiona's back and the two smiled.
"Does this make you want to just shit your pants? Or is it just me?" Tom whispered into her ear making Fiona laugh out loud uncontrollably. When he got close to her ear she expected a cute flirt, or simple reassurance, she did not imagine he'd say that. Giggling through the rest of their photos, before Tom took his solo shots, which were a lot more relaxed than he expected.
By the time they got back to the U.S., Tom and Fiona felt a little more comfortable and a lot more exhausted. After London and then Paris, the photographers in Los Angeles were more familiar with Tom as well as Fiona.
"I have a surprise for you after this," Tom said, before their couple photos. He kissed her cheek as they smiled, Fiona felt her face redden with excitement and a slight embarrassment of the public display.
"Is it what I think it is?" She mumbled between angles, with a small laugh. They had been too tired to be intimate after the premiere in London, then Paris for that premiere, and then traveling to L.A. with lots of interviews for Tom in between. She had a feeling that he was referring to a surprise in his pants.
