Chapter 15: Father

Cooper's P.O.V.

Father and Grandpa have been on bad terms about Dad's death lately.

By bad terms I mean bad terms! They are always passive aggressive to each other or give each other passive aggressive comments like Grandpa said to Father

'You've done so well for someone with your education level' and Father was pissed but didn't say anything.

Grandpa blamed Father for Dad's death and said

"I'll never forgive you for letting him bleed out and die!!" And Father didn't respond to him.

Father hasn't spoken that much lately or hit us, which is good, and weird as he usually would have yelled at the top of his lungs if we even laughed near him.

No matter how much we annoy him or as loud as we get he only politely tells us to stop doing so or says nothing at all to us! The only thing he said to us after Dad's death was

"Who knew the death of a innocent soul could make things better for everyone?" He was frowning but seeming amused by the irony of what he said.

Father recently also has just been staring at the painting of Dad hanging over the castle doors for hours on end. Uncle Mercury whispers to him when he does that, and Father whispers back at him, but none of them will tell us what they are talking about with each other when they stare at his painting. Grandpa had been rude to him lately and even tried attacking him a few times after he first saw Father no matter what he did.

I remember after the funeral Grandpa was at Dad's grave and was saying to him loud enough for anyone six feet under could hear(pretty loud but low). Grandpa said to the grave as if he was talking to Dad telling him

"Daddy loves you..You know Daddy loves you..I'm not angry anymore" After that he continued to sob until he noticed Father and glared at him saying

"This is your fault. This is all your fault. None of this would have happened if it weren't for you." He paused before screaming at the top of his lungs

"THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT!" Then he proceeded to run at Father ready to attack him until Dad's friends held him back as he cried and screamed about how he hated us all for letting him die.

He was obviously most pissed at Father and I don't think he deserved that if Father must have tried to do something about the attack? Some say he did try stopping the attack so maybe he didn't mean to let Dad die on his watch during the attack? I know it sounds like excuses that I'm making for him right now and it might be true. He seems to feel guilty about Dad's death since he hasn't been himself ever Grandpa came to see if Dad was fine only for him to be dead right next to him. Father once told us

"Maybe if you weren't born then we could have been happy but you all came and ruined it all for us. He could have been alive and well but he had to care about you BRATS!!" and then he never said anything to us again.

He must have been blaming us for what happened to Dad but we possibly couldn't be the cause of their relationship being bad! Like no one but them knows what their actual relationship was like before Petals and the rest of us were born. Not that Father would tell us much but maybe he might be telling the truth or he was just yelling nonsense about who caused his death. Who knows maybe they were married to everyone else's eyes though they could have just been friends in their own time until people pressured them to have some heirs to the throne. It must have been awkward for them both during that time as they probably forgot about that or they were trying to delay that.
