It's like it all happened so recently. Martin sat up in his seat as he watched over Cooper and Wrath in the hospital room. They were sleeping, clearly exhausted. Martin took a glance around the darkroom before he took off his red handkerchief. It's the very same one Sarid gave him years ago.

Martin felt all the memories coming in as he touched the texture of the cloth. His life changed for the best when Sarid came into his life and took pity on him. What makes Martin wonder what made him so special? He was a nobody, but Sarid changed his way of thinking. Sarid made him feel like he was everything.

He remembers when Ted taught him how to fight while Sarid was away doing his royal duties, Ted is serious as he told Martin to focus because the battlefield is chaos. He told Martin

"He provides it all for you. At least be prepared for the once in a blue moon tasks he'll give you." Martin saw how passionate Ted was to keep Sarid safe.

Martin raised a brow, because if anything, they are more in danger than Sarid will ever be in even without their protection. Martin didn't say anything, though. He helped Ted guard the Kingdom, his magic growing stronger as he took out more monsters. Martin's magic is strong, no doubt. Sarid praised him but told him to relax and not work so hard as he wouldn't want Martin to think he owed Sarid. Martin is thankful to have met someone like Sarid. He was lucky.

Sarid was always so sweet to them, rarely ever upset with them, always making life just a bit easier, refusing to let them do much except the small tasks he asks for now and then. Martin also got a bit of a crush on a sweet gal that came by now and then to report things to Sarid since Cody sent her over whenever he couldn't give them the information, which was more than often. Martin spent a few good years pining over her, her name being Veronica. She was oblivious to Martin's stares when she came to report things to Sarid. At first, they didn't talk until Martin started trying to make conversation with her.

Eventually, they would have conversations even after her reports then leave because Cody called her in for a task. He loved her beautiful curly brown hair, dark mocha skin, with her beautiful 1890's dress that Cody made all his Helper Sprites wear. Martin eventually did take off his face cover and showed her his defects. He stood there terrified of her reaction to the things that made him not fit Cody's category. She didn't run or yell at him, though.

She smiled and showed fascination in him, in a way that it didn't feel like he was a freak if that made sense. There was a ball coming up at the time, and he was nervous as he wanted to ask her for a dance. Martin was worried about being shut down or getting nervous and backing out of it. He dressed as best he could, counting that Sarid made him the outfit out of the best materials. She stood by Cody's side at the ball as Cody sat on his throne.

Her hair was far more beautiful as it had these little gem charms spread in them, he eyes closed as she kept her hands together. Martin made his way to her slowly, losing Sarid and Ted in the crowd, making him far more nervous, but thankfully, Cody got off his throne and walked off somewhere with some guards who looked nervous as they possibly told him something urgent. Martin didn't care and made his way to her. She opened her eyes upon feeling a presence. She smiled sweetly at Martin, who nervously played around with his shirt. He held out his hand as he asked,

"May I have this dance?" She grabbed his hand gently and followed his lead as he led her to the center of the ballroom.

Sweet music played as they danced in what seemed like a trance as they swayed with Martin putting a hand on her waist and the other holding her hand as her free hand rested on his shoulder. It was peaceful. Everyone disappeared as Martin focused on her.
