My plan was to 'silence' Nevel Pillar permanently and use him to fabricate a story that he was part of the faction out to assassinate the remaining monarchy so that they could put someone on the throne other than Arielle.
This fabricated assassination attempt will make the Noble factions look bad and move more carefully around Arielle. They will not be able to push a candidate onto Arielle as easily as they would like. Most importantly, they will realize that Arielle is not a force to be reckoned with if they believe that she is willing to kill a Noble if she ever felt threatened.
Of course the burden of killing someone should not be pushed onto someone so gentle as Arielle...I have to be the one to do it.
"Charlotte!"
"Arielle! No, Your Majesty...what is the most important trait of being a King?" I asked.
"...Decisiveness," Arielle replied.
"Being decisive is important...You also need to be cruel if need be. This man will surely ruin you with his cruel lies and treachery. You mustn't let him live," I said coldly.
"...Charlotte, I should be the one to do it. If I am to be the cruel tyrant, I have to be able to clean up my own messes," Arielle said as she took the dagger from me.
Her hands were shaking terribly so much so that I was not she if she could pierce his heart. Even though I suggested it, it was more agonizing to look at her try to kill the man in front of me by the second.
The man had slowly began showing signs of waking up with the twitching of his brows and eyes.
I quickly took the dagger from Arielle and stabbed the man in his chest.
"You...how dare you? I won't forgive you...never!" the man said as he continuously gurgled up blood.
After a witnessing the man's body twitch for a few more minutes, he stopped moving as all life had eventually left him.
I narrowed my eyes at my bloodstained hands. A bitter feeling of emptiness soon went through my entire body as if I had lost something very important as a person.
Is this what it feels like to kill a person with my own two hands?
I was soon comforted by Arielle as she hugged me from behind.
"Charlotte, I am sorry for losing my edge when it mattered the most," Arielle apologized.
"...If it is for you, no matter how many times I fall, it will be worth it if you can live," I said as I bit my lips and sucked in my tears.
I am tired of seeing you die young...That is why I will do anything and everything to make sure that you will get your happy ending in the end of all of this suffering.
"I will become an evil woman," Arielle said.
Arielle called over the guards soon afterwards and showed a scene of her holding a weapon above the dead man's body.
"Guards, dispose of the body," Arielle said coldly.
"...What on earth happened?" Captain of the Royal Knights Hoshu Aaron asked.
Hoshu Aaron was an elder man around his late sixties. Despite reaching an age of where most would retire, he stubbornly stayed in his position despite his superiors' suggestions.
"...It was due to your oversight that I had to fend off an assassin on my own. This is the result," Arielle said with a cold smile as she tossed the bloody dagger onto the ground.
The body was quickly extracted by two people who had also come in with the Captain.
Even seeing Arielle in action myself, I still think that she is rather amazing how she can switch gears so easily and appear like a different person.
