I left the Royal Castle with a suitcase full of clothes the next morning.

It was not like I was forced to leave. Unable to accept Eli's feelings, I acted on my own and decided to leave because I thought it would be easier for Eli to get over his feelings of rejection. I knew more than anyone the feeling of being rejected by someone you love is not something that you can easily heal, but with time, things get a little more bearable.

I realized as I was packing that I did not carry too many personal items. That was to be expected since I had been going back and forth between my home and the room that was given to me in the Royal Castle.

Even so, everything I own is light...

For the first time in eighteen years, I left his side. With the help of Kyros, I set sights on my destination outside of Eli's eyes. I had gone with Kyros to the southward city far from the capital. We decided to take a short vacation at his newly purchased villa.

Even I get depressed from knowingly abusing Kyros' kindness. When I take the issue up to him and about how I can repay him, he tells me that I should continue using him until I am ready to throw him away or repay him with insults.

Even though Kyros is such a resourceful and handsome young gentleman, his masochistic tendencies have yet to change...

Putting aside his strange hobbies, he is resourceful and even got me a job at a volunteer hospital.

Eli never allowed me to volunteer because of the foreknowledge of places like these to be the common gatherings of ruffians and extremely ill. Nonetheless, I wanted to help out since it was part of her plans before she died to increase the number of people receiving treatment. That is why I signed an exclusive deal with Kyros for his soaps. He provided disinfectant tools and products at low costs for underprivileged areas.

How paradoxical...It was Arielle's wish that everyone in her country to become well and happy at the sacrifice of her own.

It is not like I hate such idealism...

Despite being torn apart each and everyday, she had the capacity to keep a benevolent heart.

It is my wish that I can do the same...before I lose my sanity.

I spent most of my duties cleaning up and wrapping the wounds of patients with low attention injuries. After a few weeks, I got the hang of doing basic odd jobs and learning everyone's names. Despite seeing around a hundred patients a day, it was a rather mundane lifestyle. Nothing exciting or extremely terrible impeded upon our daily lives.

"...It truly is mundane," I said.

"What was that, Carla?" Milly a fellow coworker asked.

I had been using the alias 'Carla' to volunteer. Milly was one of the first few people to talk to me. She was a very kind and bright young girl with freckles and deep auburn hair. Her outgoing personality brightens up everyone's mood especially in patient care.

"No, it is just not as physically intensive as I thought it would be," I said.

"Yes! Lady Charlotte Castile had created hand washing stations and distributed soaps at much lower prices so infection rates are at an all time low. It is good news for the community. Then again, we have much less to do now," Milly said.
