"Your room is not exactly safe right now and your official bedroom will not be ready until our wedding," His Majesty said.

"There must be over a hundred rooms here. I could always stay in any one of them," I said stubbornly.

"What other safer place is there than by my side?" His Majesty asked nonchalantly.

Does he feel no shame in his own words?

"...If I may give my opinion, I think it is a bit inappropriate for us to share a room before having a proper engagement ceremony," I said.

His Majesty suddenly let me down from his arms. Before I knew it, I was already in front of his room.

"Are you embarrassed, Lady Charlotte?" His Majesty asked.

"Embarrassed is the least of my worries..."

"...You have already seen me naked—"

Before he could finish his sentence, I had mistakenly covered his mouth with my hands.

"...Let's head inside," I said to much of my dismay.

I entered His Majesty's room after him and walked towards the couch. I was suddenly pulled over His Majesty's shoulder like a sack of potatoes and thrown into bed covered in dark red sheets.

"Your Majesty should take the bed instead," I suggested.

"I am going in with you," His Majesty said as he slipped under the covers from the other side. "I like to sleep comfortably when I can as well."

"...I have thought this before, but Your Majesty is such a free spirit sometimes," I said.

"I could say the same to you. You decided to join a man you had just recently seen naked," His Majesty said as he laid his head down on his pillow.

I am not here by choice.

"It is not my first time seeing a man's body," I said.

His Majesty suddenly sat upright and gave me a startle when he stared at me with inquiring eyes.

"Y-You have seen another man's...naked body before?" His Majesty asked with a tremble to his voice.

"Of course," I answered.

I was a man before...

His Majesty's jaw dropped open in surprise.

It took me a while to understand why His Majesty was so surprised.

I was a man...was...

I coughed to clear my throat before answering suitably.

"...I have taken care of my relatives' children before. Of course, his care included bathing him," I answered.

It is not a lie that I helped in bathing Eli when he was much younger. He was just like a baby angel with his shiny hair and big adorable eyes. He was even more adorable when he played with bubbles and handed me some to play with as if he were sharing his favorite toy. Eventually, he started kicking me out during bath times because he was too embarrassed to have me there as he got older.

"...Why do you try so hard to pretend you do not care about others?" His Majesty asked.

"Your Majesty, every time I share my heart with others, my heart becomes thin and weak. I begin to think that mercy is an option towards my enemies, when in reality, what is truly needed is ruthlessness and decisiveness," I said as I closed my eyes.

I fell asleep the moment I closed my eyes. When I opened them again, I found that morning had come. I escaped the loop of my assassination attempt. Surprisingly, this morning's sunrise burns my eyes more slightly than usual. It served as proof that I survived another day.
