"I have these curly magenta hair and sharp looking cat like eyes. Back when we were younger, the popular fairytale had a villainess who resembled me very much. Just for that reason, no one wanted to play with me. That is when Grace appeared! She was such a curious child back then," Jane said.
"J-Jane, stop bringing up old memories," Grace pleaded with an embarrassed expression.
"You two should have seen her. Grace was all like 'the Hero has come!' and thought that we were all role playing and that's why everyone was avoiding me," Jane said with a chuckle.
"Is it really that hilarious?" Grace asked as she lightly pounded at Jane's shoulder.
"It is funny because you unilaterally decided that you were the Hero and approached me. After deciding on your own style of fighting and defeating me, she made me her minion," Jane said excitedly.
"I had no idea that Grace was so aggressive," I said chuckling.
"If I heard correctly, Lady Grace is from an honorable Knight's family. I think it is admirable that you wanted to help people since you were a child," Arielle said.
Grace blushed terribly after Arielle's heartfelt compliment.
"P-Please...I had no idea that Lady Arielle knew about me," Grace said shyly.
"Of course I would know about two well known beauties with excellent artistic taste and good character," Arielle said with a bright smile.
Jane keeled over in the same way as Grace and began blushing to the point where her face almost matched her hair.
"I had no idea that Lady Arielle also knew of me," Jane said shyly. As if trying to change the subject, she grabbed Grace by her shoulders and pushed her in front of her. "This one has been a big fan of yours for a long time!"
"J-Jane! How could you reveal my big secret?" Grace asked in protest.
"...A fan? What do I do? I do not think that I am respectable enough to be someone of admiration," Arielle said shyly.
"The...The truth is that I am a fan as well!" Jane said.
"Hehe...the truth is that I am Arielle's first and foremost fan. That makes you two my little sisters," I said triumphantly.
"Big Sister!" Grace and Jane said in unison.
"Gosh! Charlotte, what are you saying?" Arielle asked in a fluster as she shook me terribly.
It was such a pleasant afternoon that I almost forgot that disturbances often come when you become too comfortable.
"You are terrible! How could all of you go out without me?" Lady Kaya's voice screeched.
Jane groaned when she saw Lady Kaya's sudden appearance. Along with her, Randall and Dolton followed after her. Today, the other three were seemingly gone from her side.
I felt trouble brewing, so I decided to give Jane a whisper in her ear.
"Do you mind taking Arielle and Grace with you to go stationary shopping at the town square? I will meet up with you three later," I whispered.
"Of course! Please help me pick out some lovely envelopes, Lady Arielle," Jane said as she tugged on Arielle's arm.
Arielle seemed reluctant to leave without me. I quickly gave her assurance that I would be fine. She decided to leave with them afterwards.
"Is that not rude? Leaving after seeing our faces and not even saying goodbye," Randall said.
It is not like Arielle or anyone here is obligated to be kind to you when you were being rude and intruding on us first.
"Lady Charlotte, I am quite sad. How could you go out to eat here without me? I thought we had a special relationship," Lady Kaya said as she sat down in Arielle's chair without asking.
The other two proceeded to sit in the empty chairs as well and asked that the waitresses clear the table for them.
"Excuse me, do you mind if I order some muffins to go?" I asked one of the waitresses.
"Right away!" the waitress answered.
"I think we deserve an explanation as to why you decided to leave Lady Kaya out of your activities," Dolton said.
I continued drinking my tea in silence and checked my wristwatch. The muffins would be ready to take in about five minutes. I felt more comfortable sitting while waiting until they were done packing my muffins.
"...Lady Charlotte, I thought we were friends," Lady Kaya said as she suddenly began crying and rubbing her eyes like a child.
I felt nothing from her tears but others in the restaurant began to feel bothered by Lady Kaya's tantrum. Continuing to ignore her would only trouble the eatery even more than what has been done.
"The main reason I did not invite you is because I reserved these seats for four people," I said.
"You could have asked for one more seat to be included," Lady Kaya said.
"Why would I do that?" I asked. All three of them looked at me with baffled expressions as if I asked something shocking. "We are not particularly close and my friends are not close with you either."
"We have studied together! Does that not make us close?" Lady Kaya asked.
I will never understand why so many women are obsessed with creating a connection with me.
"I only agreed to tutor Lady Kaya on Sir Randall's request. It is not like I wanted to get closer to you or wanted to become your friend," I said nonchalantly as I checked my watch. I got up from my chair and gathered my things. "My muffins must be prepared now...Oh, I will be leaving now. I hope that we do not meet again like this or ever again...because we are not close or anything to each other."
I went to pick up muffins from the front and gave them a generous tip for their troubles. I also told them that the people whom took our seats were not part of our reservation but were merely strangers. It would be a problem if people were to associate us as acquaintances.
I made my way safely to the stationary store and met up with Arielle, Grace, and Jane. They had picked out a lovely pen for me while they were waiting for me to come. I treated them all to warm muffins in the park. Afterwards, Arielle and I separated from Grace and Jane on our way back to our respected dorm rooms.
"Char, your friends are such lovely girls," Arielle said.
"They are your friends now too," I said.
"...Char, thank you!" Arielle said brightly.
"Why...all of a sudden?" I asked.
"I feel like my world expanded because of you. Before I met you, my world consisted only of serving His Highness. I did not know of any other way to live before I met you," Arielle said.
In comparison to Arielle's other lives, she has spent comparatively much more time with me than her own fiancé.
"...Are you fine with that?" I asked.
"I am very happy right now," Arielle said with a smile.
"Arielle..."
The happiest place for her would be by her fiancé, His Highness' side. No matter what troubles they have now, they will all be solved with time. Then, they will get married and have Eli together and have a happy family together.
"Arielle, I will make sure that you are happy in the end," I said to her.
