The Daughter of Phoenix 2 [George Weasley]

Chapter 2

"What do you think they're talking about?" Ron asks as they sit in a circle in George and Fred's room.

"Probably some confidential ministry stuff." Ginny says.
"I thought Sirius was-"
"I don't know, it must be bad thing though."

"You don't know how much I wanna know what they're talking ." Ron says and peeks out of the window, trying to hear their tiny voices.
"You know you should probably make something like a sneaking ear attached to us so that we can hear what people are talking." She jokes as she pats on George's shoulder.

"...Brilliant-" The twins say. Jessie totally didn't know it's a great idea.

"Should have made it earlier."
"Never really thought about it."

"Yay." Jessie cheers calmly. She really has wicked ideas, for that the twins can't deny.

They soon walk downstairs as dinner's ready.
Jessie helps Molly distribute the plates and everything.

"So..." Arthur starts speaking as everyone starts settling down.
"We have several plans during this summer vacation." He says with hesitation.
"We'll need to move."

Everyone pauses.
"To where?" Ron asks.

"12 Grimmauld Place. In London."

"When?"
"Within this summer maybe. It's not really urgent yet." Lupin says.

"Things are changing children." He adds.
"We may need to do something we did 14 years ago."

The room has fallen into silence, it seems like there's something serious out there, but of course, Voldemort is back as they all know.

"Our home will be the headquarters of the order." Arthur says.

"The order?" Ginny asks.

"The Order of the Phoenix." Moody says.

"What a name." Sirius grins and glimpses at Lupin.

"We believe it may be the time again to recruit and fight against the dark." Kingsley says.
"And all of you, shall not tell Harry Potter about any of this. It's Dumbledore's will. Not even letters."

Jessie is frozen. What does it mean 'fight against the dark' ? Does it mean they will need to confront the evil? She's terrified just by imagining this.
Who knows if she will be dragged into this dark matter again? Though she may not be needing to fight them directly, this is kind of an adult matter anyway at this moment.

"It's not a big deal all we need to do is to move." Molly says to the children while putting down the dishes, trying to lighten up the atmosphere.

"Yes indeed. There's nothing you all need to worry about...for now." Tonks adds.

"Alright...tuck in everyone, long journey isn't it?" Molly immediately says and tried to change the subject.

Jessie sits beside George and Tonks. The dinner goes on with chatters, it's only Jessie who is still thinking about the order. But she knows she shouldn't be worrying, for her mother is already in Azkaban.

After the dinner's done, Lupin suddenly takes something out.

"Happy birthday young girl." He hands Jessie a present.

"Oh not so quick Remus!" Molly laughs and rushes to the kitchen.

Jessie looks at him woodenly and quickly looks at the calendar behind her. It is the 2nd of July! Everyone is just smiling so hard seeing her shocked face.

"...Thank you! You remembered?!"
She is so amazed that someone actually remembers her birthday before she does.
"It's for me...?" It's also the first time she has ever received birthday gifts. Lupin nods with a smile.

"How on earth would someone forgot their own birthday???" Ron says and everyone laughs.

"A birthday cake for the birthday girl!" Molly comes with a birthday cake excitedly and puts it in front of Jessie.

Jessie just looks at it without moving. What's going on?

"Happy birthday Jessie!" People start saying. Jessie can't bear this amount of attention, it's quite embarrassing for her.

"... Aren't you supposed to make a wish?" Ginny asks.

Jessie looks at her and makes a wish immediately. It's quite funny actually, she wishes her mother will disappear forever. That's the only thing she can come up with now.

"...Blow the candles silly." George says after Jessie has made a wish.

She blows them immediately after looking at George. For some reason everyone starts clapping. Jessie does not understand that.

"Have you had birthdays before?" Fred jokes.

"I've been ageing, I guess. I've never really done anything about it though."
She does not understand what so special about birthdays. It's just one year closer to dying.

"How old are you young girl?" Sirius asks.

Jessie then looks at the ceiling thinking. Born in 1979, she starts counting her fingers.

"Look I was born in 1979, then it should be-"
"16. 16 you should be." Lupin says. The adults are all looking at him.

"Exactly." Jessie smiles.

"Blimey Jess you don't even remember how old you are." Ron clearly does not understand that.

"Just a number Ron!" Jessie grins and defends herself embarrassedly.

After they have all left. Jessie has gone for shower. What she sees right away after coming out of the bathroom, is George, standing right in front of her.
