Ch. 26: Market

At the morning market, Levi holds Furlan securly with both arms, you tug your hand on his arm through the loop his arm had made while holding Furlan. Leaning against his body, as the morning market was a bit crowded.

People were shouting here and there, bargaining prices, and even trading their products for their necessities.
"What do you guys want to eat today?" Levi asks first looking at you then at Furlan, who scans the bustling place with his big eyes, while holding onto his dad's firm shoulder.

"Surprise me." you smile at him, "you are a good cook."

"Mm Gu Da" Furlan utters as the both of you look at him.

Levi raise an eyebrow at Furlan, "Calling for daddy?" he asks, stroking at his squishy red cheeks.

"Gu Da" Furlan says again, one of Furlan's hand grabs onto Levi's collar tugging it down a little, as he looks over his dad's shoulder. Furlan sucks a bit on his thumb, then points to something over his dad's shoulder. The both of you turn to look at what he's pointing at.

The three of you walk toward a stall, according to what Furlan the direction was pointing . Levi looks down at the contents laid out on the vending table that caught Furlan's eyes.

"Welcome!" the woman behind the stall chimes happily. "What a cute little baby! Hold on...I know you. Aren't you Levi, Captain Levi?!"

Levi looks at the woman and nods slightly, caring less about her reaction, as he sense she's about to go off with her mouth. Furlan leans down across his dad's arms, busy reaching for something as Levi tries his best to hold on to Furlan, at the same time instinctively scanning his surroundings.

You lean down to look at what Furlan was trying to grab at, pointing to a comb, then a shiny diamond embedded pin, trying to communicate with him and guessing what caught his eye. Levi glances down at Furlan and your interaction. Fairly enjoying the company of his family and the sight in front of him.

Suddenly the woman behind the stall says, "I guess you're taking a break out and about with your baby?"

Levi stares at the woman, getting quite annoyed at her trying to strike up a conversation.

"Yes." he simply utters. Levi smiles slightly at Furlan who grabs a small toy. However, Levi's smile disappeared immediately when he hear the woman ask,

"Where's the mistress?"

Your body froze still leaning down looking at the stuff Furlan is so mesmerized with.

Levi scoffs, his glare bored into hers. He tilts his head slightly as you gulp, feeling the tension coming from his presence.

"Are you telling me you don't see her?" he scoffs once more.

The woman's eyes scans the surrounding customers at the table in front of her, then her gaze lands on you interacting with Furlan. She holds up a hand to cover her mouth in embarrassment, "Oh, I'm so sorry. There must be too many customers today, I couldn't see everyone in this crowd."

"How much is this?" Levi asks with his deadpan face.

"Um.. 5.." the vendor says. Which Levi didn't even let her finish, as he frowns at her hesitation.

"Don't even bother about bargaining a price for this." He grabs the toy and puts it into Furlan's hands, who giggles happily at it. "I only bought it because my son wants it." Then flips a coin onto the woman's vending table. It lands with a heavy *clack* as it hits the cloth covered wooden table.

Levi is about to turn around and leave, but glares back at the woman behind the vending table.
"And one more thing" Levi says glaring down ditastefully at the things she's selling. "You can say whatever you want , and I could care less." Abruptly, you feel Levi's hand grabs at your waist, pulling you close to him, as he stares at the woman,
"But to me, she is priceless."
