Episode Twenty 🌸
Chatters filled the entire street as they see a beautiful lady walking slowly yet looks lifeless. She stares at no one in particular and her mind wandered off to who knows where.
She's wearing a simple hanfu and a bag in her left shoulder. She walks slowly and doesn't mind if some unintentionally hits her.
Rumors spread that she is a noble lady yet no one could recognize that she is the betrothed of the Fourth Prince and the newly appointed Third Rank Princess.
Even if they are not sure about her identity, people could still feel her pain that made them wondered what happened to her.
But the truth is, Xyraen could not understand why she can't forget her past. She thought she is already happy and contented but the conversation she had with her aunt opened all her wounds. It feels like the past is still fresh for her.
Her pain is still there. She thought she already overcome it but the truth is, she only hidden it at the deepest of her heart. She could only wonder, when will this stop?
"We're the same, Alexia. We only need the love from our own family yet we can't even have just a little bit of it."
Xyraen could only close her eyes and cry silently.
"Why?" She finally voiced out after some time. Her aunt looked at her with pity. For she know she could not answer her question because even to herself, she also have the same question that keeps on bugging her for so many years.
"Why are people so cruel? It's just a piece of love, why are they so selfish? Am I not really that worth it?" Xue could not bare to hear more words from her niece so she hugged her tightly. It hurts her hearing Xyraen asked those questions.
In her mind, her niece is just a child that should be loved by her parents. She doesn't know what her niece has been through but she can feel the pain.
For Xue, she's still a bit lucky compared to her niece. It is a torture for her niece to watch her own mother give love and attention to her sisters but treated her like she's not one of her own flesh and blood. Yes, her mother is near but she could not even reach her.
"Xia-er, stop crying will you? The only ones that could answer your questions are the people that you wanted to ask." She gently pat her shoulders and wiped her tears.
"Someday, you'll find the answers to your questions. Someday, you'll get what you really want. Someday, they'll realize and I hope when that day comes, you'll be strong enough to face it and you'll find your true happiness."
Xue stared at her niece but was cut off when she remembered something.
"Ah!" She exclaimed that made Xyraen looked at her confused.
