Fake Fans

"If you don't know Calum has a sister named Mali Koa, and she sings too, then you're a fan fake."

"If you don't know Ashton's siblings' names, you're a fake fan."

"If you don't know so-and-so's parents' names, you're a fake fan."

"I'm sorry I don't know -blah blah-, please don't call me a fake fan."

First: Just because someone doesn't know this fact or that fact doesn't mean they're a fake fan. And it also means you can't call them a fake fan. Definition of being a fan:

1.a person who admires somebody/something or enjoys watching or listening to somebody/something very much

Second: I can be a fan without knowing everything about the people. Other people telling me I'm a fake fan because I don't know things about Ashton/Calum/Michael/Luke make me so angry because even though I don't know everything about them, that doesn't make me love them any less. I am no less of a fan because I don't know how much Luke weighed when he was a baby. I support them just as much as you.

Third: calling someone a fake fan because they either weren't there when it all began, or because they found out about the band/singer/whatever through something else. People call other people fake fans of ATL if they found ATL through 5sos/One Direction. People call other people fake fans if they found 5sos through One Direction. And I find that horrid.

We all have something in common: we love the band. Just let it be. A fake fan is someone who doesn't support the band/singer. You don't need to know everything to support someone.
