Chapter 16: Playing dirty

The second set of the match was about to start.
Suga was in front of the net ready and in position. He was focused, determined to win. Although he didn't have the natural genius ability of Kageyama, everyone thought of him as a reliable player and a pretty good one. He had a great attitude and good teamwork skills. He was confident and ready to kick some ass, and he was going to do it with a smile on his face as he always did.

"Come on!! We'll win this set!", he basically changed the atmosphere in the team to a more positive one compared to before. Although Daichi was thankful to have Suga there, he didn't want him to play for two reasons. He didn't want him to push himself after passing out and he didn't want him near Terushima. Even if they were just playing volleyball, Johzenji's captain had a reputation for having a big mouth and that was proven to be right in the first set. He wanted to protect him but he also knew Suga wouldn't necessarily like that, he knew he could take care of himself.

As they had started to play, Suga was doing good as well as the others in the team. This is why Terushima decided it was the perfect time to start teasing again. He noticed Karasuno was playing better now that they had lifted spirits, so Johzenji's captain asked for a 5 minute break and while they were gathered in the side of the court, Terushima spoke rather loudly to make sure Karasuno heard what he was saying to his team.

"Mmh I'm surprised they changed setters. Number 9 was pretty good." The guys in Johzenji laughed and agreed with him. Suga had of course heard what Terushima said. He furrowed his eyebrows and looked down. He was well aware of the ability gap between him and Kageyama but it never phased him before. The rest of Karasuno tried not to get provoked by such stupid comment. Hinata was making faces at Terushima and Ennoshita was holding back Tanaka and Nishinoya from going at him.

When the laughter died down, Terushima turned to look at Suga and walked towards him.  "Don't worry sweetheart not everyone is made out to play volleyball. Maybe your thing is to sit still and look pretty." Suga tensed, Daichi was so ready to throw hands but he knew it would just end in more of a mess. "Leave it to number 9 next time? I need a real challenge". Tsukishima then turned to Terushima and laughed. "You're a fucking joke, I bet your ass is jealous of all the shit that just came out of your mouth". Kageyama had gotten pretty annoyed, "Suga-san is a great setter, you're embarrassing yourself". Suga turned to look at both boys and he patted their heads lightly. "Thank you for that but take it easy on the cursing".

He then surprisingly smiled sweetly at Terushima. "Thanks for the input." He stepped closer towards him, close enough that if any of them moved a centimeter forward they'd touch. Suga's voice was really quiet this time, only loud enough for Terushima to hear. Johzenji's captain had a smirk in his lips and he kept thinking if it was a good idea to steal a kiss from Suga at the moment, but his thoughts were interrupted when Suga spoke.

"Look, I don't want to say this out loud because I think you've made yourself look pretty bad already so I'm gonna tell you here." His voice had his usual sweet casual tone to it, and it really didn't match the words he was going to say. "You think you have everything controlled and that you can affect others with every little thing you do. But just to make things clear, I have YOU wrapped around MY finger. Not the other way around." Terushima was taken back by that because as a matter of fact, Suga was stating nothing but the truth.

"You can pretend you're superior in any way but don't pretend that you wouldn't do anything to get into my pants right now. It's kind of embarrassing." He got even closer so his mouth was beside Terushima's ear. "I bet if I told you to go into the janitor's closet right now so I could suck your dick you'd actually do it" The team captain didn't look so confident anymore. Terushima cleared his throat and made an effort to look into Suga's eyes. "Why don't we give it a try?" Suga stepped back a little. "You just proved my point" He smiled and looked down at Terushima's pants. "And by the way, I think you'll have to sit this set out because I doubt you'll be able to play with a boner."

Both teams were literally speechless. Although they didn't hear everything Suga said they did hear the last part were he had stepped back. Some couldn't contain their laughter. Terushima was left embarrassed, in front of the opponent and his own team.

After this, they proceeded to play the second set, better than before.
