Chapter 24: Gentle

There was a long silence between the four of them and it was killing Suga. The fact that everyone knew something he didn't made his anxiety worse by the second. He also already knew that whatever they were going to tell him, was going to be pretty bad, judging by the uncomfortable silence and tense atmosphere.

As Daichi's best friend, Suga liked to think that they told each other everything. He found it hard to believe that Terushima, a guy he met today and his new girlfriend knew something about Daichi that he didn't. Suga knew who he was more than anyone there. He knew he was a responsible and strong captain, a caring and loving friend, and a good person overall.

So...

How bad of a thing could he have done?

Suga's thoughts were interrupted by Terushima's voice. "Oh Daichi, you really fucked up this time huh? And I'm sure you don't need me to tell you for you to know." Terushima was talking as if he was the most innocent human on the planet. He liked that for the first time in his life there was someone else other than himself that did something wrong. Suga was surprised that Daichi hadn't stood up for himself so far, he was still looking at the ground in silence.

Suga was on the verge of losing his cool. "Can you guys please stop? I need you to get straight to the point." Terushima sighed. "Okay, okay! I honestly just wanted to have a conversation with your captain over here but since you're present too I guess you'll just have to listen to the conversation." He shrugged and looked over to Daichi who was now looking at him with a serious look.

"What do you want to talk about?" Daichi's voice was low and quiet. "You know it can be in private right? Suga Can leave." The vice-captain looked at Daichi with an indignant look on his face. "Why do I have to leave? Are you hiding something from me?" Terushima looked at Daichi with a mean smirk. "Yeah, are you hiding something from Suga?" Daichi wanted to punch Terushima so bad right then and there but he kept composure.

He didn't answer them, he just stayed quiet. Suga had his arms crossed and he was looking at Terushima, waiting for him to continue. "I just wanted to tell you congratulations on winning the match! Now you get to do whatever you want with Suga."

Suddenly everything was quiet for few seconds but it felt like an eternity to everyone there.

Suga took some time to process what Terushima said. I couldn't have possibly heard that right. He eventually turned to look at Daichi, with an expression that was really hard to read. The captain wasn't quite sure if he looked hurt, confused, sad or angry. "W-what is he talking about Daichi?"

Daichi shook his head and held Suga's hand. "It's not what it sounds like, not at all I-"

"Really? Then what is it? What it sounds like to me is t-that you made some kind of bet!?" Suga couldn't believe what he was hearing, he grabbed Daichi's wrist and removed his hand from his.

"You can't possibly think I did something with the intention of hurting you Suga, please listen-"

"But you did! I-it doesn't matter what your intentions were, you made a bet w-with me as some kind of prize. Do you have any idea of how fucked up that actually sounds?" Daichi was now regretting everything he agreed on with Terushima earlier. He had to use all his willpower to not break down. "I-I do! God, I know how bad that sounds, but I did it to protect you!"

It was a long time since Suga felt this angry, he was outraged at every single thing that came out of Daichi's mouth. "Why the hell would I need to be protected? I can do that myself." His voice had gone down in volume and it sounded more broken this time. "I-I seriously can't believe you'd actually do something like that...I'd expect it from Terushima but I didn't know that talking to him would make you fall so low as a person."What Suga said was like a stab in the heart to Daichi. He'd always think Terushima was a bad person ever since their first conversation and it hurt him that he was now getting compared to him.

Suga looked like he was about to cry but he was doing everything he could not to. He didn't want to show that he was completely heartbroken, he only wanted to show that he was angry, which he was but it didn't compare to the sadness and disappointment he felt. He never, in a million years thought that Daichi could do something like that.

"Suga p-please just- It really wasn't like what you think- I" Suga shook his head, he was hugging himself like he always did when he felt hurt.
"L-leave." Daichi's eyes widened, he tried to get near Suga but the other boy just stepped back. "Don't- just leave." Daichi knew that all he could do in that moment was to give Suga some space and time to cool off. Before he could leave he turned to Terushima. "Are you happy now?" He shrugged and smiled. "Pretty much" And with that, Daichi left Suga's house, slamming the door shut with anger, desperation bubbling inside him.

Michimiya put her hand on Suga's shoulder and sighed. "Look, I know I should hate you right now but for some reason, I don't. Before I leave I just wanted to tell you that you deserve better than that." Suga looked at her and smiled sadly. "You do too."

After that small exchange of words, Michimiya said her goodbyes and left. Leaving Terushima and Suga alone. Suga had been sad when Daichi was around because of the heartbreak but now that he was left alone with Terushima, all he felt was anger. "You're an asshole." Johzenji's captain shrugged. "Well, what can I say, I like to fight for what I want. If that makes me an asshole then so be it" Suga laughed bitterly, he refused to look at him. "And what exactly is it that you want?"

"I want you"

Terushima got closer to Suga, making him step back and eventually bump into a wall. "I thought that was clear already"

"You're crazy if you thought I'd rush into your arms after that, I may be sad but not delusional" Suga kept looking away, all this time he never made eye contact with him, and Terushima didn't like that at all. He wanted all his attention, so he took ahold of Suga's chin to make him look at him. "Look at me"

"Get off" he tried to push him away but it was useless. Terushima wrapped his hand around Suga's neck making it impossible for him to move. "If you think I'll be gentle like Daichi, you're wrong." He couldn't talk or breathe properly.

"It'll all be easier for both us if you stop struggling"
