Chapter 27: Fresh start

Suga's eyes widened when he saw that Daichi was hurt, he ran towards him and cupped his bruised cheek. Koushi's soft delicate touch sent sparks into Daichi's body. He was waiting for Sawamura to give him an explanation, but the other boy just shook his head and smiled softly, "It's okay Suga, I kinda deserve it" Daichi's voice was soft and low like it usually was and it filled Suga with warmth.

"Are you hurt anywhere else?" He started to examine him up and down with a worried expression. He then saw that Daichi's hand had bruised knuckles, and that's when Suga immediately understood what had happened. He looked down and sighed. "Asahi told you didn't he?" Daichi's mood suddenly shifted, he frowned and looked down. "Tell me what exactly? That you were about to have sex with Terushima right after I left?"

Suga tensed. "I-it wasn't like that-"

"I know. That's why I went to Johzenji this morning. I knew you'd never sleep with him just like that, so I knew something was off." Suga was relieved he didn't have to explain what had happened. Daichi looked like something was bothering him, he was frustrated. "I couldn't stand the thought of him touching you. Even more knowing that it was in a forceful way." Koushi didn't know what to say, his eyes were slightly wide. He couldn't believe that Daichi actually went to Johzenji to stand up to him. It made his his heart skip a beat.

"I had to do something about it...even if I wasn't there yesterday, there was no way I'd let Terushima get away with it" While Daichi was saying those things they had both unintentionally started to lean in slowly, Suga's hand was still caressing Daichi's cheek and the other boy already had his hands on Suga's waist. There was a lot of tension between them. "You didn't have to get involved in a physical fight, It's not like you..." He glared at him.

Daichi gave him a fond smile and before they could kiss, Suga stepped away quickly. "I- you wanted an answer, right? To your texts..." Daichi nodded, he was startled at Suga's sudden withdrawal. "Well, I think that the boy you like needs space and time to think. He forgives you and still loves you so so much, but you did hurt him and it will take a few days for him to recover from that."

Daichi felt relief wash over him, it made him happy to know that Suga forgave him and that he still loves him. "Uhm, Suga? I can give you space and time but what exactly do you mean by that? I want to know so I can respect it"

"I want you to be my boyfriend." Daichi was startled, he wasn't really expecting that answer. "But it's not about what I want...it's what I need. And what I need right now is a friend." Sawamura didn't know what to say. "Everything has been so messy lately and I just want things to be like before for now. No complications. Let's be friends." As hard as it was for Daichi to accept that, he knew he needed to, he owed it to Suga and all he wanted was for him to be happy. He was also glad to hear Suga say 'for now' which opened up possibilities for them being together in the near future.

"I'll do anything as long as you're okay."

Daichi stepped close to the other boy to embrace him in a warm hug making Suga flinch, but he eventually melted into it. "Why are you so jumpy this morning? especially when I touch you" Suga looked away. "I-I don't know I guess I'm just still scared from last night." Daichi's anger towards Terushima multiplied by a million. "How far did he go?" Suga shook his head and looked away. "I don't want to talk about it okay?"

Daichi felt like he wanted to swing his fist at Terushima again, harder this time. "How far did he go?! What did he make you do?!" Suga rolled his eyes at Daichi. "I said I don't want to talk about it okay?! Stop acting all alpha and manly I can take care of it too you know?" Daichi tried to calm down. He was extremely worried that the night before had really affected Suga emotionally, he didn't want him to have issues with intimacy because of Terushima.

He wanted Suga to be his usual affectionate happy self. But he knew that the best healer was time and that eventually, he would return to normal. Daichi knew that it was no use for him to be angry. The best thing that he could do was to be supportive and loving. All Suga needed was that and time to process things. "I'm sorry for shouting...it wasn't at you." Suga understood why Daichi felt so angry but all he wanted was to feel happy again and he knew that he'd be able to achieve that the moment things went back to normal.

He just wanted to forget.
Forget Terushima.

His touch.
His words.
His existence.

Suga stepped closer to Daichi and planted a small kiss on his cheek. "Thank you, for understanding..." They both blushed lightly. "Can we have a fresh start? Can we please forget everything that happened in the last few days?" Daichi smiled softly and nodded. "What happened again?" Suga laughed quietly. "Come on, let's go to the training room, we have a party to plan"

Daichi smiled. "We owe it to Asahi, he's a good friend." They both started to walk together where the rest of the team were and Suga felt content and calm for the first time a while. "Yeah, and he's been enduring all this drama, now we need to help him with Noya"

Daichi and Suga were now looking forward to the future, and what it would bring for both of them,

together.

"Thank you for the flowers by the way..."

"They reminded me of you"

"Friends Daichi, friends"
