Chapter 44: "Sleep" adventures pt1

Everyone in the sleepover, minus Bokuto and Akaashi, were now gathered in the empty room full of futons. Even Kenma, after a long period of inner conflict, decided to go join the others. Suga was standing in the middle of the room holding a notepad as he wanted to organize the sleeping matter and make sure that no one was being left out.

- "Alright! Noya?"

- "I'll be with my bro Tanaka" Nishinoya put his arm over Tanaka with a huge smile

- "Hell yeah!" Tanaka threw his fist up in the air.

Suga looked at the two boys with an unimpressed face.

- "Predictable," he said as he wrote down their names on the paper. "Kenma?"

Kenma was standing in the far corner of the room as he tried to avoid this part of the sleepover.

- "I'll-"

- "He's sleeping with me" Kuroo's loud, confident voice cut right through Kenma's, making him cross his arms and look the other way with a small pout.

Suga nodded as he wrote down both of their names together.

Hinata began to freak out from the other end of the room as he had already paired up with Kenma earlier, only for Kuroo to step in. He felt no jealousy whatsoever, but panic as he didn't have a partner anymore and the last thing he wanted was to be paired up with Kageyama. He was scared to say the least.

- "Iwaizumi?" Suga called out, but before he could answer, Oikawa interrupted.

- "Yeah, there is no way Iwa-chan and I are staying in this room with all of you. Especially near the king and the ADHD dwarf. So if you can excuse us we are taking one of the rooms upstairs." Oikawa spoke with his usual cockiness and superiority complex, leaving the room as he held Iwaizumi's hand.

- "Don't interrupt me again baka" Iwaizumi mumbled in annoyance.

It took a while for Hinata to understand that Oikawa was referring to him but he eventually got it. 

- "WHO ARE YOU CALLING THAT?" he yelled in anger.

- "He could have potentially been referring to Nishinoya too" Tsukishima laughed quietly while Yamaguchi laughed along.

- "OI BEANPOLE I WILL FIGHT YOUR MEDIOCRE VOLLEYBALL ASS" Nishinoya got held back by Asahi with one arm as he was ready to fight.

Suga looked annoyed as he began to feel tired of everyone's bs. All he wanted was to get it all over with so he could go to "sleep" with Daichi.

- "MOVING ON. Kageyama?"

Kageyama stood there rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly. He hadn't quite understood until then that he had to pick a partner.

- "I'll sleep alone."

Suga sighed.

- "That's not an option." He searched around the room to see who he could pair Kageyama with but let's be honest, Suga already knew. "Hinata! That's perfect, we love a setter and spiker relationship don't we?" No one answered but there were a couple of subtle nods here and there.

Hinata's eyes widened and then he ran to hide behind Suga, scared.

- "OBJECTION"

Daichi shook his head in disbelief.

- "We're not in court Hinata now cooperate."

Kageyama frowned and looked away.

- "Tch"

A few minutes later, everyone was sorted into pairs. Some happy and some...not so much. It would be lights out in a matter of minutes.

Kuroo was placing a couple of blankets on top of the futon as Kenma just watched him do so. He was still not exactly happy with him so he was quieter than usual which was slowly frustrating Kuroo more and more as time passed.

Kageyama and Hinata were standing beside each other by their futon with an exact distance of a meter separating each other. Which is what Suga likes to call, the "no homo distance". They both refused to even look at each other as they both had their arms crossed and their heads pointing in opposite directions.

Yamaguchi and Tsukishima, on the other hand, were sitting on their futon sharing earphones listening to something gay like 'Sweater Weather'. Anyone in the room could tell how in love they were by the way they looked at each other. It was like they were in their own little world.

Daichi and Suga were flirting on the other end of the room, completely forgetting that their entire team (plus Kuroo and Kenma) were there. Daichi's hand was resting on his waist as he pulled him closer to his body to kiss his jaw softly. Suga giggled as he did so.

Asahi was standing there awkwardly waiting for them to finish whatever it was that they were doing.

- "Uh"

Nishinoya went over to Asahi as he felt bad when he saw him third-wheeling.

- "What are you doing he- oh"

He stopped talking when he finally noticed Daichi and Suga in front of him. Nishinoya stood on his toes to whisper at Asahi.

- "Let them be, it'll distract them and we'll get more time to be awake. Plus, I need to talk to you."

Noya wasted no time dragging Asahi out of the room by pulling at his hoodie. Asahi blushed a little as he did so, looking around nervously.

- "What's going o-"

Nishinoya put his hands on his hips and looked up at Asahi rather confidently.

- "Look, I don't know if it's your long hair that's messing with my brain into thinking you're a girl but you're not bad looking. What I'm trying to say is that I'm straight but maybe I'm not."

Asahi had no idea as to what he should say. He wasn't even sure if he had completely understood what Noya was telling him.

- "I-I don't unders-"

- "I really like girls. LIKE A LOT. Kiyoko for example, she's absolute perfection but we both know she's into Tanaka which is fine by me."

- "Noya-"

- "I'm not finished." he said as he placed a finger on his lips to shut him up which looked kinda funny as he had to stretch up really far up. "I know I friend-zoned you a few hours back but now that I think about it, I might want to give it a try." Noya smiled brightly at Asahi.

Asahi was basically freaking out internally but it was also obvious from the outside as he was smiling awkwardly, blushing a lot and rubbing the back of his neck nervously.

Suga and Daichi had been spying on their conversation for the last minute and they were both also freaking out. 'SAY SOMETHING, DON'T JUST STAND THERE' Suga thought as he shook Daichi excitedly. They were both quiet though so the other two wouldn't notice.

Nishinoya knew Asahi better than to expect an answer, he knew it was too much for him at the moment so he just jumped to kiss his cheek and walked back into the room happily.

Asahi stayed there frozen in place. He was a flustered mess, filled with happiness and high hopes for his future love life.

The next chapter (pt2) will focus on Iwaoi and Kegehina, the third part will be on Bokuaka and Daisuga and the fourth will be on Kuroken and Tsukiyama.
