Chapter 2: As long as you're happy

Suga's POV:

A few meat buns later, Daichi, Asahi and I said our goodbyes and parted ways from the first and seconds years. Asahi was walking with us so we decided to hang out for a while before Daichi and I had alone time to talk. My anxiety was at its peak and I couldn't help but worry about what Daichi wanted to talk to me about. Had he noticed my feelings towards him? He's probably going to tell me he's been uncomfortable...have I been too obvious? I sighed and looked down, Asahi then noticed my bothered state. "Is something wrong Suga? Are you feeling sick?", he had a slightly wide eyed expression. I quickly looked at him and laughed a little "I'm okay Asahi quit thinking the worst" I elbowed his side making him wince, and then gave him a reassuring smile.

Daichi was pretty much out of it, looking at the ground or the night sky in silence. I frowned and sighed, it's so hard to read him sometimes. Asahi has probably sensed some of the tension because he started to nervous talk. "So Daichi have you told Suga yet?" Huh? "Told me what?" I stopped walking and looked at Daichi. After realizing I had stopped they did too and walked towards me. I crossed my arms and tilted my head while looking at Daichi. He was having a hard time looking at me in the eye but he made an effort. "It's nothing important really" he tried to sound confident with what he was saying but I know Sawamura, he wasn't really sure of what he was going to say. It showed.

"I don't care, we're friends right? Pretty close If I may add" I still had my arms crossed. My voice sounded pretty casual and soft, how it usually sounds but my body language was kind of tense. I don't really know why there was so much tension in the air, maybe because he usually tells me things before anyone else and never has trouble opening up to me...I have never ever judged him or spilled any of his secrets so why is this hard for him to tell me? There were a good 30 seconds of eye contact and no talking between Daichi and I until Asahi interrupted. "Uhm guys? I'm gonna head back home" he was smiling nervously and rubbing the back of his neck. Daichi looked at him and gave him a slight smile, nodding "be careful, it's late" I just looked down and before we knew Asahi left.

"I know what you're thinking" Daichi spoke out of nowhere in his low voice but a bit softer than usual. I looked up to meet with his gaze, I probably looked confused as hell so he kept going. "Why didn't I tell you first thing and before anyone else...I gues- well you kno-" he sighed. It's not often that I see a nervous and hesitant Daichi, I started to become impatient and scared. I held onto his shoulder and looked into his eyes, we were only a few inches away. I was trying to read him, my eyebrows where furrowed and my eyes were staring intensely into his. It was a warm summer night, clear skies and lightly lit streets with a soft breeze, it was a warm summer night when Daichi told me he-"I'm dating Michimiya-San"

...What? My eyes were slightly wide and my mouth was parted, I didn't move for what felt like minutes but it was only a few seconds. I then stepped back a bit. "That's amazing" I smiled weakly. Daichi sighed and looked down, he seem relieved, like a weight had been lifted off his shoulders. He suddenly had that confident air to him again, like the one of a team captain. "I'm so glad I told you..." I nodded and tried my best to keep a smile on my face, I felt a knot in my stomach and pressure on my chest. No don't cry don't cry don't cry...."I'm glad you told me, I want you to be happy" I reached up to ruffle his hair.

He went silent again after that so I slapped his arm. "What now?! If you want to tell me something say it all in one! I don't want to have multiple scares a day, make it one!" I crossed my arms and narrowed my eyes at him. Daichi started to laugh uncontrollably. That made me relax a little. "It's funny when you get worried and angry at the same time" he was now smiling at me, that smile that could kill. That confident smile that made me blush and want to hide under a rock. So what did I do? Glared at him. "Okay okay, I just wanted to ask you a favor, that's all..." I sighed and my expression softened "What do you need?"
