Chapter 35: Carpool

Suga's POV:

Things were starting to get really awkward really fast. Kageyama and Hinata were still looking at each other with blank expressions and bright cheeks. You could seriously cut their tension with a knife.

I was holding onto Daichi's arm and I wanted to close my eyes to stop cringing at the sight and before it could get any weirder, we heard knocking from the entrance door.

Everyone's heads snapped to the direction of the sound. Daichi looked at me in confusion and I just shrugged.

"Did you invite anyone else?" He asked and I shook my head.

"Nope, just us- Oh! And Kenma!" I had almost forgot accepting Hinata's request to invite him over. Daichi kissed my cheek and walked directly to the door to open it.

No one's POV:

The moment Suga mentioned Nekoma's setter, Kageyama's head snapped back to look at Hinata. "You invited him?!"

Hinata flinched at his friend's scary expression. "What?! He's my friend! I wanted him to come!"

The two boys were still furiously blushing and had the funniest looks on their faces.

Kageyama felt something weird in his stomach and throat. Was it sadness? jealousy? he wasn't sure why though. He sometimes felt like Hinata preferred Kenma over him or that he wasn't enough for Hinata. He knew it was probably all in his head but it still hurt.

He expected those kind of things to happen though. Although he hated to admit it, Kageyama knew Hinata had way better social skills than him and that he had more friends.

Kageyama made a 'Tch' sound with his mouth and Hinata narrowed his eyes at him. "Why are you blushing?" He poked the taller boy's cheek.

"SH-SHUT UP B-BOKE! Look at your face! You look like a human tangerine!"

"Huh?!?" Hinata glared at Kageyama and Kageyama glared back, only to make the tension worse. They always bickered over the stupidest things and the dare wouldn't be an exception.

"It's your fault for MAKING ME DO THAT STUPID DARE!" Kageyama took ahold of the top of the shorter boy's head with considerable strength.

"AAAA! I DIDN'T MAKE YOU DO ANYTHING" Hinata managed to get away from his grip. "Actually...You did it because you decided to, you could've said no" he smirked at him.

Kageyama felt himself get frustrated and annoyed at Hinata, but before they could continue teasing and shouting at each other, the two boys heard a small 'Shoyou' coming from behind them making them stop and turn around.

Everyone in the room had begun having conversations and laughing like nothing had happened before and Kenma was now standing there holding his DS with a blank expression on his face. It had a hint of confusion though because he didn't know what to make of the things he heard from their fight. He didn't really care though.

Hinata seemed to leave everything with Kageyama behind because the moment he saw Kenma, he ran towards him and jumped up and down. "KENMA YOU MADE IT!"

"Hey." His voice was quiet as usual and he had now resumed the game he was playing.

Kageyama was standing there like 🧍🏻.

"I thought you said that Bokuto San and Kuroo San were coming last-minute" Hinata tilted his head trying to watch Kenma play. He always liked to watch.

The long-haired boy nodded and sighed. "They're on their way."

Meanwhile in Bokuto's car:
Akashi's POV:

I could tell Kuroo San was scared because he was holding on to the side of the door for dear life.
"You said you could drive!" He turned to look at Bokuto San with obvious distress in his face.

"And that's what I'm doing!" He was smiling, excited to be heading to a party. He had always loved social gatherings and he also likes the Karasuno team, especially Tsukishima and Hinata.

I know Bokuto San is not the best driver but I knew better than to say anything about it. It probably sounds weird but I'd rather die from a car crash and see him happy than see him sad at the party.

Kuroo was shooting daggers at me but I just shrugged and kept looking out the window.

"AKAASHII, HOW GOOD OF A DRIVER AM I?"

We made eye contact through the rearview mirror. "A good one Bokuto San"

That made his smile even brighter, it almost made me smile but I remained the same.

Kuroo was still having a hard time, and until we hit a red light he managed to regain composure. "Don't forget to stop by Aoba Johsai to pick up this guy Oikawa"

Hinata had insisted on us picking him up since his highschool was near Yamaguchi's house. We really didn't know who he was but we were going to find out very soon.
