Chapter Thirty-two

"Warning: Reflections in this mirror may be distorted by socially constructed ideas of beauty."
Luke laughed as he read the sign on the long mirror in Alex's office. He was such a caring man to put that on the mirror just to help the blonde out. Because he really couldn't see the skeletal looking boy everyone else saw. He just saw a boy who had fat clinging to him everywhere.
Turning to the side the blonde frowned before breathing in as far as he could to see if he could see what others saw. But he couldn't.
Pouting the blonde sighed and sat on the floor. He was adamant he was not going to leave the mirror until he saw what everyone else saw.

"Luke... What are you doing?" Alex asked rather confused as to why there was a shirtless boy sitting on his office floor. It was more concerning that he was in front of the mirror whilst being anorexic. It was seen as a trigger.
"Trying to see what everyone else sees," he said in frustration because he really couldn't see anything else but what he normally saw.
Alex signed before heading over to the patient. "It takes time Luke but I promise you will see what you really look like one day."
Frowning the blonde poked his belly. "But why does this look so real. I look all big and squishy."
"Because your mind is playing tricks on you. And there is nothing wrong with you looking a little chubby. I honestly think you'd look a lot better with a little fat on you compared to being skin and bones.
"Maybe," Luke shrugged.
The two's eyes met in the mirror and the grey haired man asked. "Why are you all of sudden trying to get better? Just yesterday morning you would not eat your breakfast."
"I want to get better for myself," Luke explained before standing up and throwing his top back on. Alex noted how thin he was looking again and recalled back to when Luke had the swollen stomach and he looked a lot better.
"So this has nothing to do with your boyfriend leaving?" the elder asked suspiciously. The man knew the curly haired boy had left and assumed Luke wanted not want to be away from the boy he loved.
However, to Alex's surprise, the blonde did not seem upset that he had now left and he wouldn't see him for months.
"He's not my boyfriend anymore," Luke informed the man. Dawdling over to Alex's desk he sat in the man's high back swivel chair which was the therapist own chair. But he'd allow the young boy to sit in it due to the pure favouritism and care he had for the anorexic.
"How so?" he asked concerned that this may cause a major deterioration in Luke's health sooner or later.
"He said that if still be here for a while. He wanted to love his life and meet new people. He didn't want to be hanging around. But if he didn't find anyone he would still be willing to take me back," Luke said spinning round in the chair making himself dizzy.
The man headed over and stopped the fast spinning chair. "You're gonna make yourself sick."
The blonde giggled as if he wouldn't mind that happening. "Oh well."
"And you're okay with Ashton doing this?" Alex asked concerned.
"Yes. I can't keep him waiting. Plus this is me were on about. Who'd want to be with me."
"You're a good looking boy Luke. And you have a fine personality and soul. You'd be surprised by how many people would fall for you."
The blonde sat in the chair for a couple of minutes with his chin in his hands. His eyes flickering around the room before they land on a file which is beside him. He noticed it had his name on it and a recent date.
"Is that my weight from yesterday?" he asked anxiously.
The man nodded before picking up the file. "Do you want to know what it was?" he asked because previously he refused to allow Luke to know them. But he felt this was the right moment for him to know.
"Well about a week ago you were one hundred and sixteen pounds but you've gone down to one hundred and nine. So you've lost around seven pounds in a week."
"That's good right?" Luke beamed really proud of himself. But if only he could see the end result.
"No. That's bad Luke. You need to be gaining weight not loosing it," Alex argued. "You'll never get out of here if you don't gain weight. You won't be able to see your family barely at all."
Luke pouted sadly at the thought of his family. He really missed them and the fun he had around them.Only then he realised how since he's developed his eating disorder he'd missed out on all the fun with his family. He'd lost out on the final part of his childhood. "I miss my mum."
