Chapter Sixty

-

"I needed this so badly," Liz sighed taking a sip of her wine and leaning into Alex's side. The man placed a small kiss on her head and smiled sadly. The past month had been eventful and no doubt stressful for the mother.

"Maybe we should do this more often," the grey haired man suggested, not minding treating the lady often. After all, he did love her.

"We're not all made of money," she laughed whilst shaking her head. Placing her glass of wine down on the table, encouraging herself to ration it for the night.

"I'll pay whenever you want," Alex assured her giving her hand a tight squeeze.

"No it's fine Alex. Besides I don't like leaving Luke home alone," she admitted.

"He's sixteen!" Alex laughed knowing that she loved the boy dearly and hated the thought of him being alone.

"Still so you."

"Plus Jack is looking after him," he pointed out knowing that the eighteen-year-old boy was not going to be much help in assisting the boy with his troubles. Either way, it was only a couple of hours.

"Stil, I have an eerie feeling about leaving them two alone. More so Luke. He can easily manipulate Jack." She took another sip of wine before leaning into her man. "Why does life have to be so difficult?"

The grey haired man wrapped his left arm around her torso and pulled her in closer. "Luke will get better and Jack will grow out of always needing you," he assured her.

"I thought Luke got better before and look where we are now," she shook her head in disbelief. "He's never going to be fine. Whatever happens, he is going to struggle to eat at some point or refuse to take his meds and the voices will come back again."

"He's got Ashton," Alex suggested trying to brighten up the women he loves mood.

"Ashton is falling out of love," she stated simply, looking into Alex's eyes.

"You don't know that," he shook his head, he knew they were growing apart but that did mean nothing as of yet.

"It's obvious Alex. Luke lies to him. Jack yells abuse at him. He's only there to tell Luke he is beautiful. Ashton loved the recovered Luke and doesn't want to go through all the stages of recovery and falling back down.

"That's all part of Luke though. He can't be with Luke without having the boy who has an eating disorder. If he doesn't what that type of Luke then he can't have your son at all."

"He'll never find anyone else though," the blondes mother admitted to herself knowing the blonde barely socialised with anyone and when losing Ashton he would think he was no good for anyone.

"I have told you both this a million times. For starters, Luke has the looks, even more so when he looks healthy. No one can resist the temptations of a good looking boy. Secondly, he is incredibly smart with knowledge, wisdom and common sense. Something no one can not want. Finally, in my opinion, you want someone who will give you an adventure. Luke is so difficult to handle that you don't want to let go. Hell, I couldn't!"
