Chapter Nineteen

-

Love or family?

You can't be decided who your family members are. You may be born into hating them. Yet technically you can't really choose who you fall in love with. Your heart (and your head) decides for you. However, if you are in love with them there is little chance of you hating them.

Therefore Luke thinks he's made the right decision. There is no doubt that he is definitely in love with Ashton. He is certainly gay. So his family do have the right to know. If his father has chosen to leave and have nothing to do with his youngest son then so be it.

The blonde didn't need his father. He was barely around anyway. Plus he's never really felt happy around his father. The curly haired boy instantly caused the boy's lips to curl up and his ocean blue eyes to sparkle, which had not happened in a long time.

Love, in Luke's eyes, is more important than family any day. Besides, you can't have a good family without love.

He didn't bother to finish crying before he left the visitors room. People were staring. Luke was not in the mood for talking to strangers. Therefore he immediately got up and left the room.

Tear tracks stained his pale hollow cheeks and his eyes were bloodshot. His body also shook with the sobs which occurred in around thirty-second intervals.

Luke looked like a wreck. Each step he took was slow. He leaned all his weight onto the white wash walls.

He wanted to get back to his room without being stopped by anyone. Preferably no member of staff who would make him talk and explain.

Yet that's what he couldn't get his head around. What explanation would he give to someone? Luke was unsure whether he was crying because of his father's reaction to him admitting to being gay. Or the fact that his father cheated on his wife.

Luke's mother was like china, the type of material that smashed if you instant drop it. She broke so easily. If Luke fell over, she would shed a tear. If Jack dropped a plate she'd make him feel okay about it. If Ben ever needed money to support his life, she'd give him more than he needed and she could really afford.

Luke didn't know why he was upset. Maybe he wasn't upset. Maybe he was scared.

"Luke?" Ashton raised his head from a magazine. This was not uncommon. Yet when he saw that Luke had been crying he instantly arose.

Flinging himself across the room, the curly haired boy engulfed the anorexic in a huge hug. Usually Luke would cry even more at this kind of gestures. Instead, he remained calm and wrapped his own spindly arm around Ashton muscular back.

It was perfect, to both of them. Being in each other's arms made their stomachs tingle with butterflies and their hearts race like crazy.

Pulling away Ashton asked concerned. "What's wrong?" His large alien like hands rise to the blondes face. His index finger swipes away the setting tears off of his cheeks before reassuringly reminding him. "You don't have to tell me if you don't want to."
