Chapter Thirty-six

-

"Mum!" Luke squealed as his mother appeared with Alex into Victoria's office.

"Lukey," she smiled as she saw her youngest son for the first time in months. Her last memory of him was a dying, emaciated boy.

But now he was starting to look healthy, his face was less hollow and he had a glow to his face. And in general, he looked a lot happier.

The blonde leapt out of his seat to embrace his mother into a hug. She laughed at his enthusiasm and smiled at the firm grip he was holding her in. It proved he was getting better.

But she frowned when she felt a bump collide with her body. She knew he son had reached a healthy weight, but from what she knew was that he should basically have a flat stomach.

"You look, good sweetie," she admitted cupping her sons face in her hands. "I'm so happy you're getting better."

"I'm really trying mum," Luke smiled a little guilty.

"Hey, where's my hug blondie?" his brother asked from watching them. He held out his arms for Luke to run into them and they had a warm embrace.

"Surprisingly," Jack began. "I actually missed you. Things are not the same without you, are they mum?" She shook her head in disagreement, but she was more focuses on Alex who was sat on a desk talking to a lady. Whom he was sat rather close to.And for some strange reason, she felt a pang of envy shoot through her heart as she watched her best friend talk to his colleague.

"Is this your office?" Liz spoke up.

"No, it's Victoria's," Alex said turning round to face everyone.

"I'm Victoria," the women sitting at the desk smiled, giving a slight wave.

Luke laughed in amusement, which caused both therapists to smile. He found it strange how they presented themselves so differently to his family compared to him.

"I'm head therapist here in the ward, and Luke was unfortunate to have to join me at meal time on one of his first meals," she introduced before smiling over at her patient. Luke smiled back at the memory, he had come so far since then. The blonde woman still gave the therapist confused looks as to why she was here and why they were in her office.

"Luke was a very difficult boy to deal with in the means of eating and I felt Alex was not strong enough to help your son get through this on his own, therefore I also took on the role of becoming his therapist."

Liz nodded understandingly. "Have you been causing trouble?" she asked raising an eyebrow at her son.

"It's what he does best," Alex chuckled looking at the boy. "But, no. Most patients here do not care at all about their therapist's feelings but Luke does. He can be trouble sometimes, especially when it comes to eating but he's a good kid."

"You've raised a good son," Victoria agrees, nodding.

Liz smiled looking at the youngest boy, she held out her arms around him and placed a small kiss on the top of his head. "I'm proud of you Luke."

The blonde looked down and bit his lip. He looked at his stomach which protruded out quite a lot. It was slightly obvious through his shirt. He wondered if he had done the right thing.
