"Your father was just like you are now, playful, loving. He cared deeply for us as the oldest sibling. He often prioritized others before him, fought for the sake of his people even though they treated him like nothing more than a threat. He still loved everyone else." Dalnim let out a small breath, wiping the tear that escaped her eye. It pained her, remembering how her brother used to look after her and Yeomra every single day. Now, he considered them his mortal enemies. "Now, he considered the demons his own people instead of us celestials." she chuckled bitterly.
"Yeah, I hate the fact that he believes violence is a prime way of gaining peace." Han Ri pouted.
"I agree with you, niece, but your father loves you all the most, he loves his children no matter what and you know that." she smiled, caressing Han Ri's warm cheek. Suddenly, Han Ri heard the long deep howl again, and she groaned while covering her ears, earning Dalnim's attention. "What is it, Han Ri?"
"T-the howl.....I-I keep on hearing the terrifying howl many times. It has been going on for a while now." she whined, frowning visibly. The goddess hummed in interest, seemingly knowing what her niece was talking about.
"I experienced it too when I was young." Dalnim cleared her throat.
"Wait, really? You too?" the young girl gasped and widened her eyes. Her aunt only nodded.
"The long, deep, and frightening howl evoking this sense of hopelessness and fear, accompanied by the sounds of screaming and chaos." Dalnim said.
"T-that's exactly what I heard! That's perfectly accurate, ajumma!" Han Ri cupped her mouth, growing even more curious. "W-what does that mean?" she blinked her eyes profusely.
"No one knows how and why it happens, but....some say the howl doesn't come from this world we're living in, Han Ri. The howl itself belonged to a being whose very existence is in a place far far away from our world, in a place nobody in this world could ever reach. Whenever such being howls, chaos always follows, and blood is always spilled." she explained.
"Well, that's scary as hell, thank god so called 'being' isn't in our world. I don't wanna even know what it looks like." Han Ri chuckled.
"Terrifying it indeed is, and I hope it's just a story." Dalnim sighed, swinging her legs. She then turned to look at her niece. "You haven't answered my question, Han Ri. What are you doing here all alone?"
"Oh..uh...well, I'm not alone."
"Hm? Then who is your companion?"
"Myoui Momo." she answered, surprising Dalnim with her reply. Noticing this, Han Ri hummed curiously and asked back her aunt. "What's the matter, ajumma, is there something wrong?" she questioned, but the goddess was silent, awful silent.
"N-nothing to worry about." she said. Dalnim them stood up and looked at the younger girl one last time, smiling warmly at her. "I have to get going now, the Moon Flowers can't wait by themselves. Take care of yourself, Han Ri." the goddess grinned, crouching down to give a small peck on her niece's forehead.
"Alright, see you, ajumma." she grinned, showing her bright teeth. Dalnim smiled one last time before turning into an owl, flying away from Han Ri. The young girl only watched as her aunt flew back into the sky, disappearing into thin air after going through the big clouds. "I think I should get back to sleep now." she yawned and turned into a canary, flying back to the cave where Momo was still asleep.
