"It's not your fault, unnie..." Han Ri stated, reaching out to wipe her sister's tears with her trembling hand. "Unnie" she called again.
"Yeah?" the older girl looked at her with teary eyes.
"I'm sleepy. Can I sleep first?" she asked softly. Knowing what she meant by that, Jeong Yeon knew she wouldn't let that happen by any means necessary. She's going to keep her sister awake, she knew she should.
"No no, look, we're almost home!" she pointed towards the gateway of the Outer Realm, holding on every last bit of hope left. "Don't sleep first don't sleep, we're almost home, you can sleep when we're home, okay? Keep your eyes open, Han Ri-ah, or else I'll be very ang-" Jeong Yeon stopped talking when her eyes landed on Han Ri who was already 'sleeping', her eyes closed shut as she gave out her last breath, her pale lips forming a thin smile."H-Han Ri-ah, wake up, wake up now, no time for joking, Han Ri-ah, no time for joking! Han Ri!" she cried, balling her fists hard as Jeong Yeon let the tears stream down her cheeks, her teardrops falling to Han Ri's cold cheeks. The older girl trembled and quivered in grief, cupping her mouth while endless flows of tears flooded her eyes, almost making her sight all blurry.
Balmong looked at the sight with disbelief in his eyes and took off his helmet immediately, widening his shaky eyes.
"N-no..." his lips parted.
Haegolbul felt the sorrow and coldness in Han Ri's body despite not seeing it directly, and knowing what it meant, the dragon let out an incredibly loud roar of anger and sorrow, her cry so loud almost everyone in the land could hear it like a volcano erupting. The dragon immediately flew faster to the Outer Realm.
As they arrived at their main lair in the Outer Realm, Jeong Yeon brought Han Ri's body along with her and walked weakly to the throne room, pushing the door open to see Mal Gu rushing up to them with horror and disbelief in his face. She gave her dead sister to her father, and the demon immediately carried Han Ri's cold body as he kneeled on the ground, hugging his youngest daughter tightly while crying and screaming grief, his muscles contracting and not relaxing at all, his throat almost all dried up from his endless cries and screams of anguish.
"My baby.....my poor sweet baby..." Mal Gu sobbed and snuggled his head against Han Ri's trying his best to feel every last warmth of his daughter, and yet all he felt was void, coldness, nothing. He looked up at the ceiling and screamed even louder, his sharp teeth showing and the window glass shattering into tiny pieces from the powerful shockwave he emitted. The guards and everyone else stumbled back from the earthquake Mal Gu caused from his uncontrollable rage. He then looked again at Han Ri's face and caressed her cheek with his thumb, tears falling down her cheeks. "My Han Ri...." he mourned.
"F-forgive me...my lord." Balmong hid his face and knelt down before the demon, feeling guilty for this. "I couldn't save her, I deserve to be blamed for this." he swallowed the lump in his throat. Jeong Yeon only folded her arms while letting her tears escape her eyes. She could not do anything about it. She couldn't stop them, she could only let them flow naturally.
"I'm sorry abeoji.." Jeong Yeon sobbed.
"No" Mal Gu spoke, silencing everyone and literally everyone in the room. He stood up, still carrying Han Ri in his arms. "The humans have long considered us to be the monsters in their nightmares. Perhaps now, they'll have their wishes fulfilled. Now, we'll be the monsters they deemed us as."
