"Spacious room," commented Andrew, admiring the laboratory.

It was very bright, with large paned windows where the sunlight could shine on the laboratory. There were multiple computers and machines on tables.

"Give me a moment," the woman said as she scrambled her papers around the lab.

This took time for Andrew to notice the person he was exactly speaking to. She had purple pigtails, with an orange jacket and black shorts. She had dressed just as oddly as Maurice.

"Arya, your papers are over here," announced another person from the other side of the lab, "You misplaced them."

"Thanks Jules!" smiled Arya.

Jules had a green sweater, as well as green hair that stretched to their neck. They had black pants on and played around with their fingers a lot.

"Is she your partner?" asked Andrew.

"I'm a guy," stated Jules.

"A robot, actually," explained Arya as she grabbed the papers from Jules as well as putting on her goggles, "I found her parts in a junkyard and started putting two and two together. I guess technically she's a Generation 4, but she's not made from the factories."

"I told you I'm a guy!" yelled Jules in frustration.

"I forgot about introductions," said Arya, finally realizing, "My name is Arya Mavis. I'm an intern for the forensics team here, but everyone just gives me their workload because I work well. I'm only 19 and I've done some pretty cool stuff, not to brag."

"Andrew Hawkin, Suspended Detective, 23," introduced Andrew, "This is my robot companion, Laurence. Generation 4."

"Anyways, here are the results of the effects of the diamonds," explained Arya:

These diamonds are most similar to the substance "Zonialation Diamonds." Zonialation Diamonds are a rare mineral mined from the depths of Gulga Caverns, a place just below Engine City, geographically. It has a few uses because of the materials and chemicals it contains.

For one, it can give human beings hallucinogenic effects, much like lysergic acid diethylamide, or LSD. I'm assuming that these effects are the main reason why Maurice Bennett was selling them on the streets. These must be some pretty expensive drugs, because the next effect is highly sought out for on the market:

The ability to give robots free will.

"Free will?" asked Andrew, curious, "You mean that robots could think and act on their own? Without the use of Bits for their owners to command them?"

"If you think about it," continued Laurence, "This could be the reason why there has been evidence of robots killing people, despite the fact that they aren't programmed to do so."

"I don't believe it for a second," scoffed Andrew, "Excluding military-designed robots, normal robots aren't made to kill people. Despite free will, I doubt that they'd even have the ability to think of that."

"You're awfully positive about robots," mocked Jules, sitting on one of the tables, "I'm almost a robot of free will myself, due to me not actually being manufactured by a factory. I could think about killing all I want you know. The only thing preventing me is the Bit system."

"I've already lost two robot partners," explained Andrew, "Those two would never hurt a soul."

"Using two robots doesn't apply for every robot in the system."

"They were also under the Bit system, and everyone knows that it's fundamental and important to have when building or creating a robot."

Bits, ß, are a type of currency, usually used as a tax for goods and services done by robots. These Bits must be inserted into a robot in order to activate their special functions, an example being Laurence's Replay. Once these Bits are inserted into this coin slot at the back of the robots neck, the owner must command the robot, either verbally or just by thinking.

Once the command has been finished, the Bit is melted into a robot's core (almost like the heart of a robot), and the information from the Bit is stored into the robot's system, sending data to Engine City's Main Server Lines, hidden deep underground. Once the information is retrieved, a new Bit is manufactured and distributed to the public to keep the economy flowing.

Cores and Bits are essential when it comes to robot creation, especially since it relies on the city's network to give the robots fuel and power.

"Well, you never know," smiled Arya, shrugging it off, "I'm only here to relay information anyways. I'm pretty curious about this stuff, so I'll be keeping these Zonialation Diamonds for further research."

"Further research, huh?" asked Andrew, growing skeptic.

"You need not worry about what Arya does," said Jules, "She's a curious crackhead, but she isn't evil. Only good things will come out of those diamonds. I assure you."

"Where'd Maurice say these diamonds were from again? Or where he got them from?" asked Andrew.

"I believe he purchased them near the junkyard near Jerry's," stated Laurence.

"Jerry's or Jamie's?"

"Jerry's."

"Yeah.. I figured. It's hard to tell with so many junkyards around Engine City."

"I believe pollution can be an opportunity," smiled Arya, pointing at Jules, "Great things can come from small trash."

"Did you just call me trash?" asked Jules hazily.

"Alright.. let's.. get out of here," said Andrew, slowly backing away from the lab, "Before this gets out of hand."

"I don't know which one is more dangerous: The robot or the crackhead," commented Laurence as he walked alongside Andrew, exiting the laboratory as the two feuded.
