14//capture the flag

Marinette did go back to bed eventually, but she couldn't sleep. She tried, she really did, but she couldn't.

Now, the new day has started and Marinette can't focus on anything, she keeps yawning and everyone notices.

"Girl, how come you're so tired?"

Marinette shrugs, and lies "I don't know."

Adrien is the only one who knows Marinette was up this night, he doubts if he should confront her. He thinks Marinette doesn't want anyone else to know she couldn't sleep. So he might talk to her later, if they're alone.

"Let's go." Alya says, pulling Marinette with her.

"Where are we going?" She asks.

"Did you even listen to what miss Bustier said? We're going to play capture the flag." Alya explains.

"Hmm?"

"C'mon, where is your head?! Capture the flag is a game we play in two teams. Each team owns a flag they have to hide and protect from the other team. The team that manages to bring their opponent's flag to their own 'base' wins the game. There are cards which tell you who will win and lose a fight, every person owns one card and they can get a new one back at their base." Marinette nods, she has played this game once before so she knows how it works.

Once the teams are set, they gather to discuss their tactic. Marinette, Adrien, Alix, Juleka, Ivan, Kim and Chloé are in the red team. Usually, Marinette is the one who takes charge, but she's too tired to think, which results in Chloé deciding everything.

"So, we have to hide this utterly ugly red flag, I think it's a good idea if I keep it with me all the time so no one will find it."

"That's cheating, we're not doing that." Adrien interrupts.

"We can hide it in that tree, I don't think anyone on the opposite team likes to climb trees." Alix says.

"I do!" Kim shouts, taking the flag from Chloé and climbing the tree with it. He ties the flag around a branch and climbs down.

Chloé starts handing out cards, two for everyone, which ends in Adrien once again saying it's cheating.

"We can manage to win without cheating." Alix says, taking the cards from Chloé.

"Cool, they're superhero themed! Okay, let's see. There are 12 cards. There's Ladybug, Chat Noir, Rena Rouge, Carapace, Queen Bee-"

"That's mine, I'm queen bee!" Chloé interrupts.

"You were queen bee. Now shut your mouth, I'd like to continue." Chloé turns away, you can see she's hurt by those words, after all that's happened, she still wants to be a superhero.

"There's also Viperion, Ryuko, Pegasus, King Monkey, Bunnyx, an amok and an akuma. And look, they all have a special power described on the card." The team makes a tactic and Alix hands out cards based on the tactic. It's a coincidence; Marinette gets the Ladybug card and Adrien gets the Chat Noir card.

Ms Bustier rings the bell, which announces the start of the game. Every card has a number. The higher the number, the more powerful the card is. Ladybug's card is number 12, Chat Noir's card is 11 and so on. The akuma is card 1, but it can defeat every card except Ladybug's. The amok is card 2, and only Chat and Ladybug can defeat that card. Chat can only be defeated by Ladybug and Ladybug can only be defeated by Bunnyx.

It's a fun game and everyone is playing the game to the fullest in no time. You can see different people from different teams run back and forth. Marinette walks up to defeat Alya and Nino, as she knows Alya too well and knows she has tried to get the Fox miraculous herself and the Turtle miraculous for Nino.

"Gotcha!" She says, as she tags Alya and Nino.

"I win." She smiles, taking the cards from them. She did get the turtle and Fox, but it was unexpected that Alya had the turtle miraculous and Nino had the fox miraculous.

"Marinette, wait up!" Adrien says, running towards Marinette. This is the perfect time for them to talk, as no one will hear them.

"HiAdrien, what's up?" Marinette stutters, again.

"You did go back to sleep last night, right?"

"Yes, of course! I mean, I went back to bed, and I tried to sleep, so yes, but no. I couldn't sleep, but I tried."

"Are you okay?" He asks her, Marinette needed to hear that question, although she cannot answer it honestly.

"I'm fine, just tired."

"Are you sure? You can trust me." Adrien says, Marinette's answer is the same as his answer when Kagami asked if something was wrong after fencing. He's certain Marinette isn't fine at all.

"I know I can trust you. But I need you to trust me, I'll be fine."

"If you say so." He says uncertain, walking with Marinette towards the opponent's base.

"There, I see the flag." Marinette whispers when they've hidden behind a bush.

"Good eye. Any ideas to get it?"

"No, if only this card had a real lucky charm, it would make things a lot easier." Marinette jokes.

"It would be much easier is this card had a cataclysm too." They laugh a bit.

"I think I know how we can get there, but we need the queen bee card for that, too."

"I'll get Chloé, I'm certain she switched the cards when the game started. You stay hidden here, m'la- I mean- Marinette." Adrien runs off, his head is not in the game at all. He almost called Marinette 'my lady', why?
