38//the last fight

Ladybug, Carapace, Rena Rouge and Queen Bee arrive in HawkMoth's office. Pegasus is still keeping Natalie there, which gives Ladybug a feeling of relieve. Ladybug walks up to the painting, presses the triangles and the four heroes are guided to the hideout.

"Oh Ladybug, I see you're back for more." HawkMoth says, he's been waiting for her.

"It's over, you can't defeat us." Ladybug says confidently.

"I noticed you're stronger, being in possession of both the Cat and Ladybug miraculous, but don't think I'm giving up now. When you were busy saving your partner, I've prepared myself for your return." Ladybug notices HawkMoth looks different, his suit is all red and his eyes are flowing with anger. "Or haven't you noticed the amount of villains when you returned? They're not actual people, they're clones, but they're as powerful as all my creations. Even if you win, you still lose." HawkMoth says, it's something about his tone that makes Ladybug realise he's turned mad.

"You have to stop this, people are going to die!" Ladybug says concerned.

"No, people have died! My wife has died! I tried to bring her back but you, you and Chat Noir, two teenage kids, somehow managed to keep me from getting that. But if I can't have her-"

"Are you insane?! You've got a son, an assistant you obviously like and a millions company!" Ladybug interrupts. Queen Bee — who sneaked around as planned — uses her venom to paralyse HawkMoth. She then returns to Ladybug's side.

Ladybug is about to walk up to HawkMoth and take his miraculous when he starts moving and laughing.

"You kids still don't get it, do you? I made myself stronger than you could ever imagine, your powers aren't of any use on me anymore. You've lost." Ladybug doesn't know what to do, this was her plan: paralyse HawkMoth and take his miraculous, but that's not gonna work now. She has to find the object he akumatised himself with and after that, she can take his miraculous.

"Queen Bee, get out of here. You're about to transform back and I don't want you here when that happens. Join the fight upstairs when you're recharged." Ladybug orders. Queen Bee doesn't object, she still feels like she needs to prove herself to Ladybug.

"Carapace, Rena Rouge. I don't want you here either. I don't want either of you getting hurt, this is a fight I have to face on my own."

"But-" Rena Rouge starts, but Carapace takes her away.

"I'm sure Ladybug knows what she's doing. We'll join the other fight, I'm sure they're in need of some help."

Ladybug is glad she didn't have to argue with them. Now she can fight HawkMoth on her own without risking anyone else to get hurt again. HawkMoth might be strong, but she wears the two strongest miraculouses and knows she can defeat him without using the wish. Everyone is counting on her, not only her friends, but all of Paris. She has to do this for them. For her family, for her friends and for her partner, she can't let him down or Chat Noir will blame himself.

"I thought you were smart, but you just sacrificed yourself by letting your backup leave. How do you think you're gonna beat me, your powers are useless against me!"

Ladybug starts circling her yo-yo as a shield. "You must have forgotten that I am stronger too, I've got more experience in fighting because you always stayed in your lair like a coward, watching us defeat your villains over and over again. How does it feel to get beaten by some teenagers?" Ladybug says with a smirk, which obviously annoys HawkMoth. He tries to attack her, but she simply dodges. Her reflexes, senses, powers, everything got stronger when she wears the two miraculouses, but using them both at the same time also tires her. It still feels wrong to use them both, but she knows this is the only way to defeat HawkMoth. Ladybug keeps dodging HawkMoth's attacks, although it gets harder with each attack.

"Why don't you tell me where your akuma is and make this easier for both of us?" Ladybug asks, but she doesn't need an answer. It's that moment when she sees a red rose on his outfit, that's where his akuma must be.

The next time HawkMoth attacks, Ladybug is able to grab the rose, although she did get hit because she let her guard down. She breaks the rose and is relieved when the akuma comes flying out. She swings her yo-yo and catches the akuma.

"It's over." Ladybug says, taking the butterfly pin from Hawk Moth. His suit disappears and Gabriel appears. Ladybug gives a cookie she stored in her yo-yo to Nooroo, who seems extremely tired. "It's okay, you're safe now, I'll make sure nothing is gonna happen to you." Ladybug tells Nooroo.

"Thank you, Ladybug." Nooroo says.

It wasn't the best idea for Ladybug to talk with Nooroo as she didn't notice when Gabriel Agreste slipped away. Gabriel walks to a wall in the room they're in, pushes a few bricks and a red button appears. It's too late for Ladybug to do anything about it once she notices what's happening.

"If I can't win, I'll make sure you won't, either." Gabriel speaks, pressing the button. Alarms start blaring and the room gets on lockdown. Yet, due to the fact that Gabriel knows what happens when the button gets pushed, he gets out of the hideout while Ladybug is stuck there.

"Self destruction in 1 minute." A programmed voice says.

Ladybug starts panicking, she has to find a way out, it can't end like this! She won, she can't die down here, she promised she wouldn't die!

"Nooroo, do you happen to know if there's any other way out or at least a way to stop the alarms?" She asks, but Nooroo shakes his head.

"I'm sorry Ladybug, but I don't."

"It's okay. Just take your own miraculous and find a way out of hete. You're small and you can move through matter. Make sure you get to safety. Once you're out, find your way to The Tom & Sabine Boulangerie Patisserie, that's where the miracle box is right now." Ladybug says.

"Self destruction in 30 seconds." The voice says.

"There's no time, get yourself to safety. I'll be fine." Ladybug says. Nooroo nods, he knows there's no way for Ladybug to get out, the best he got is getting out himself and search for Chat Noir's help.

"Self destruction in 10 seconds." The voice says, Ladybug is scared, she knows she can't get hurt badly thanks to her powers, but do those powers have a limit?

"Self destruction in 5 seconds."

Ladybug starts tearing up, she's failed. HawkMoth escaped, she has no idea how her friends are holding up and she doesn't even know if she'll survive.

"I'm sorry mom, dad, Adrien, Alya, Nino, I'm sorry I wasn't strong enough." A tear rolls down her cheek as she thinks about everyone she let down, she let all of Paris down.

"I'm sorry Tikki, Plagg. I'm sorry I couldn't get you out." She says, while hearing the voice count down from 5 to 0.

"I don't know if I should do this, I know there's a cost, but I'm willing to pay the prize. I can't let you two die because of me." Ladybug speaks, she knows the two kwamis can hear her.

"I'm willing to pay whatever prize if that means you're safe."

"Self destruction in three seconds."

"I wish..."

"Two seconds."

"...that no one dies..."

"One second."

"...because of me."

"Self destruction activated."
