16//ghost tour

After dinner, miss Bustier explains they're gonna do a ghost tour through the woods as soon as it gets dark. The class is not allowed to take personal belongings with them once again, but Marinette refuses to leave Tikki alone this time.

When the sun sets and the moon rises, the class leaves for the woods. It's dark and the only light they have are the lights that show them the way. Kim and Alix walk up front, followed by Max, Nathaniel, Mylène, Ivan, Chloé, Sabrina, Rose, Juleka, Marinette, Alya, Nino and Adrien.

Before they start, they get an introduction by none other than Mayor Bourgeois.

"Daddykins?" Chloé says under her breath, she — like every other student — had no idea parents would be involved in this trip.

"Beware, for these woods are haunted. There is a witch in our midst, she is the one changing people, she turns friends to strangers. Stand in her way and she'll make your life a living hell. Enter and you may not return, at least not the same."

The class enters, they know the story is made up, but something terrifies them, something they can't quite understand.

The thing about ghost tours is not that they're scary, it's the people around you that make them look scary. The more people who act like it's scary, the more people actually get scared. Alix and Kim both aren't scared, they just like the thrill and jump scares. But Rose, for example, is terrified, but she gets hyped up by Juleka, who isn't scared by anything other people consider scary. Then there's Mylène, she might be the most scared of everyone. Ivan isn't a good help in cheering her up, but he tries, which is sweet. He even gave her a scarf "It's for good luck." He whispered. They're made for each other.

Walking through the woods, the class notices the path narrows, which results in people pairing up. Only two people can walk next to each other, it won't fit if more people walk side by side. Alix and Kim pair up, followed by Max and Nathaniel, Juleka and Rose, Sabrina and Chloé, Ivan and Mylène, Alya and Nino and Adrien and Marinette. Adrien can't stop thinking about the kiss, but he can't show Marinette he knows as it might reveal his secret identity.

The further they walk into the dark woods, the scarier it gets. Moonlight gets blocked out by the trees and soon, they can't see where they're walking.

Chloé trips and falls "Stupid woods, how long is this gonna take?" She exclaims annoyed, but everyone laughs. No one wants to laugh at her, but they needed something to take away the fear.

"Maybe you shouldn't wear heels, you knew we were going into the woods." Again, people laugh. But as soon as they hear sound coming from behind a tree, they stop.

Mylène turns to Ivan, she's scared of whatever is behind the tree.

"In the name of the law, I forbid you to go on. We need new sacrifice material to satisfy the witch." It's Sabrina's dad. If he's in this too, they assume most parents are hiding in those woods, ready to scare their own kids.

The class has seen a lot of parents already. Only Marinette's, Julleka's, Alix's and Adrien's parents have not yet been seen. Adrien doubts his father will join them, it would surprise him if he did.

By each second that passes, Mylène gets more scared. Marinette feels bad for her, those things are not made for her.

"Oh please, can't you shut up? You're such an attention seeker!" Chloé says, she's been in a bad mood ever since she fell.

"Shut up, Chloé." Marinette says.

"Why? What are you gonna do to me? Scare me with your scary baker fingers?"

"My fingers can do much more than just scare you. And if I were you, I wouldn't want to find out." Chloé pretends she didn't get intimidated by it, but she does shut her mouth and moves on.

It doesn't take long until Marinette's parents are up to scare the class. They walk up to them, their clothes are filled with blood, although Marinette is sure it's just strawberry juice. Tom walks towards them with a knife while Sabine only holds dough. They actually do scare Marinette, not because their acting is that good — it's terrible. It scares her because she's never seen her parents like this.

Marinette isn't the only one scared by this, Mylène loses it and starts crying. Tom and Sabine directly stop their role as scary bakers and walk towards Mylène, wanting to help her with their caring words and hugs. But everyone recoils when a black butterfly finds its way to the badge Mylène received from Ivan.

Without anyone knowing it, Adrien's dad joins the night too.
