17//another akuma

Marinette needs to transform, especially now that Chat promised to take a break, but with her parents keeping an eye on her, she can't.

"I have to help my classmates." Marinette tries to convince her parents.

"There's nothing you can do. They'll have to find a way out of there themselves. We'll just have to hide and wait until Ladybug and Chat Noir show up." Tom says.

"We're not in Paris anymore, who knows how long it will take for them to find their way here."

"Help!" Marinette hears Sabrina shout, she's stuck and the akumatised Mylène is closing in on her. There's no time to transform, Marinette has to help her now. She leaves her parents behind, ignores her father shouting her name in fear and manages to get Sabrina out of the way right before Mylène strikes.

"You have to get out of here right now." She tells her.

"What about you?"

"I'll be right behind you." Sabrina nods, running away from the battle.

Marinette manages to save multiple students, which include Nathaniel, Rose and Adrien. "I'm sorry, I didn't hurt you, did I? I'm so clumsy." Marinette apologises as soon as she notices Adrien's back hurts.

"Don't worry, you didn't hurt me." Marinette sighs of relief.

"Good, now get out of here."

"I'm not leaving you alone." She starts to blush.

"I'll just make sure everyone is safe and leave as soon as Ladybug arrives."

"Then I'll stay with you until Ladybug arrives, I don't want you to get hurt knowing I could prevent it." Marinette doesn't know what to do, she can't get rid of Adrien but she also can't transform with him besides her.

"Do you trust me?"

"Of course I trust you!"

"Then leave without me, I'll be right behind you." Adrien nods uncertainly, he can't leave his princess, but he knows she can take care of herself.

"Okay, but you have to promise me you'll leave as soon as everyone is safe."

"I promise."

The two heroes leave separate ways. Adrien makes sure everyone is well-hidden while Marinette makes sure no one else gets hurt. There's only one problem: Mylène traps people. And when Marinette tries to save Juleka from getting trapped, she fails and they both get locked up with the others. Her dad is there, he probably went after her as soon as she left to save Sabrina. Alya, Juleka and Max are trapped too.

She's lucky she knows where the akuma went, otherwise this would be an impossible fight. The little badge in Myléne's hair is what she needs to get hold off. The only thing standing in her way of transforming is this cage.

"Do any of you guys carry something useful with you?" She asks.

"I got this knife." Her dad says,
"It's probably not useful, but I got this stuffed unicorn Rose gave me." Juleka says.
"I have my phone, I know it isn't allowed, but-" "If you have a phone, try to contact Ladybug and Chat Noir through your LadyBlog." Tom interrupts her, Alya nods and starts recording a message.
"I got my mini-toolbox, I always carry them with me in case I need to fix Markov." Max says, handing Marinette the box.
"So, a mini-toolbox, a knife and a stuffed unicorn. I'll try to pick the lock, you guys think of something else in case I fail." Marinette says, taking the mini-toolbox with her. Of course, she's not planning on using it, Tikki can open the lock much faster than any tool.

As the cage opens, the five of them manage to leave without Mylène noticing it. "You guys leave, I'll stay here in case something happens." Marinette says, but Tom and Alya both refuse.

"I'm not leaving, I need this for my blog."

"And you're not staying, Marinette. It's too dangerous."

"I understand you're scared of losing me, but I can take care of myself. Please go to mom, she's probably worried about both of us. I'll stay with Alya." Marinette says, Tom doesn't want to leave his daughter, but he knows she'll never abandon any of her friends.

"Just promise you won't do anything reckless."

"I promise."

Now it's just the three of them: Mylène, Alya and Marinette.

"I can't get a response from Ladybug or Chat Noir, why won't they come?" Alya asks annoyed.

"Maybe they're busy." Marinette tries.

"They have to save us, there's no way we're gonna defeat Mylène on our own." Alya says, giving Marinette an idea. With or without the suit, she's Ladybug. And since Ladybug is their only hope, the only thing she can do now is defeating Mylène without her suit.

"Alya, I need your help. I think I have a way to get the badge, but I can't do it on my own."

"You promised your dad you wouldn't do anything reckless about five minutes ago." Alya says, raising an eyebrow.

"I know, but it's late, Ladybug and Chat Noir are probably asleep as they're both normal human beings. We can't all wait until the sun rises for them to see your message and show up to save us."

Alya nods, "What's your plan?"

They use the stuffed unicorn as a distraction, Marinette sneaks up to Mylène, grabs the badge and breaks it. Alya catches the akuma in the toolbox. She seals it off to make sure it can't escape.

"What happened?" Mylène asks confused.

"You got akumatized, but don't worry. Marinette single handedly saved us." Alya says excited.

"I wouldn't say single handedly, you helped me."

"I only caught the akuma, girl. You risked your life multiple times to save us. If Ladybug ever retires, she should give the miraculous to you." Alya jokes, but it somehow gives Marinette a bit of confidence, she actually can be Ladybug without her suit and she even defeated this akuma without Chat's help. The only thing she needs to do now is purifying the akuma as soon as she's alone and all will be good. But for now, she needs to get some rest, she hasn't slept in 36 hours and is absolutely exhausted.

I only have a few finished chapters left (which I still need to re-read for mistakes) so I decided I'll update probably twice (or maybe three times) in one week from now on.
