A loud bang can be heard from every place in Paris and the smoke that it left behind could be seen from even further. Policemen, Ambulances and Firefighters gather around the Agreste Mansion, or what's left of it.

Carapace's shield disappears, he managed to protect everyone in his reach from the explosion: He, Rena Rouge, Queen Bee, Viperion, Ryuko, Bunnyx and King Monkey are all saved by his hands. Pegasus managed to get himself and Natalie out on his own, using his voyage. He's handing Natalie over to the police officers while explaining what happened.

Everyone got out safely, except for one person.

"Where's Ladybug?" Queen Bee asks, although she knows no one can answer that.

"She was still inside when the house exploded and she didn't have any protective powers!" Carapace says.

"I knew we should have stayed, I tried to tell you!" Rena Rouge starts, but Carapace takes her into a hug.

"I know, but if we weren't here, everyone else would have died in the explosion. Ladybug made a choice only a real leader could make: she sacrificed herself so that everyone else could live. And you never know, Ladybug is smart and she might have found a way to survive."

"You don't know that!"

"You're right, I don't. But I have faith in her."

Some policemen walk up to the heroes protected by Carapace's shield.

"Excuse me, can you tell us what happened?" They ask. Some heroes nod while other's have to leave due to the fact that they're about to transform back. Rena Rouge, Queen Bee, Bunnyx, Ryuko and Viperion stay while Carapace, Pegasus and and King Monkey leave.

"We got alerted by Ladybug earlier today that there was gonna be a fight here. She told us not to get involved, but we were bound to come when the explosion took place, do you know anything about the explosion?" One of the policemen asks.

"We don't know what caused the explosion, the only thing we know is that HawkMoth and Ladybug were fighting each other inside." Rena Rouge says.

"Have you seen either of them since?"

"No, we haven't." Rena Rouge says, not able to give any other explanation, so Ryuko finished her sentence.

"We suspect that one or both of them got caught up in the explosion, we don't know if either of them survived."

"Do you know their civilian identities, we could get all of Paris to search for them."

"We know HawkMoth is Gabriel Agreste, but there is no one who knows Ladybug's identity."

The policeman nod and grabs his walkie talkie "I need everyone to look for Gabriel Agreste, he's the main suspect of being HawkMoth."

"Is there anything else you could tell me about what happened?" A silence follows in which everyone is thinking.

"We know Ladybug saved Chat Noir, but we don't know where she hid him." Rena Rouge says.

"Thanks for your help, if something comes to your mind later, you can come to our office anytime. If any of you needs healing, walk to the ambulance. If not, you may leave." The heroes nod and leave.

It only takes half an hour until the news is full of rumours about Ladybug's dead. Back at the Dupain-Cheng bakery, the explosion came as a shock. Adrien, who doesn't want to reveal his identity, feels like he lost everything today: his dad, his house, his kwami and his lady.
Marinette's mom is unable to talk, she promised her daughter she wouldn't tell her identity to anyone, but if she actually died- no, she won't believe it. She knows her daughter is stronger than this, she must have had a plan, it just takes a little longer for her to return, she's certain.

The people of Paris are allowed outside again, although it's still recommended to stay inside. Marinette's dad leaves for the school to see if Marinette is hiding there, which leaves Marinette's mom and Adrien alone.

"I'm almost afraid to ask you this," Marinette's mom starts, not sure if she wants to finish it.

"What is it, miss Dupain-Cheng?" Adrien asks, which results in her having no choice but to ask.

"Are you Chat Noir?" Adrien keeps silent, not sure how to respond, how did she figure it out? "It's okay, you don't have to respond if you don't want to, but I assumed because you being kidnapped was all over the news and when Ladybug showed up with you in her arms-"

"You're right, miss Dupain-Cheng. Just don't tell anyone, please." Adrien says, he's not sure why he told her the truth, he just didn't feel like lying after all that has happened over the past few days.

"I won't tell anyone, I was only curious." Miss Dupain-Cheng says, before comforting Adrien with a hug. "It must be hard for you, just know you're safe here. You can stay as long as you'd like." Adrien hugs her back, even though she's not his real family, it feels more than real to him right now.

It's late when the policemen abandon the crime scene to go home and be with their families. Everyone is in their home, some are lighting a candle for Ladybug while others don't believe it's true. No one notices when a 15-year old girl with two, blue pigtails and a black and red suit crawls out from under the rubble. She's full of bruises and cuts, but she's alive.
