"you don't have to help me" pops mom chuckled as i helped her fold laundry.
"you've been so good to me.. i owe you everything" she sighed putting the clothes down and grabbing my hands making me furrow my eyebrows seeing her facial expression.
"Your so strong, baby. i've been good to you because i know you would've been good to me if i wasn't feeling the best. i've been good to you because i know you have ever good intention with my son and plan on having a family. a healthy one. something pop needs" i frowned at her glossy eyes.
"but-"
"don't give up on him, Ny. please don't ever give up on him. that's all everybody did when he was growing up. he needs you even if he doesn't wanna admit it" she wiped her tears. "you've shown him love, baby. you showed his hard headed ass how to love and i love you for that. none of us could ever do that to him.. you should hear the way he talks about you"
"you take care of your baby so good even with the circumstances your under. Allah has a plan for you, baby. you and pop will have the brightest future. i'll make sure of it".
i didn't even realize my tears were falling. it hurt to hear her talk like this.
that's when my phone started to ring.
"hello?" i sighed wiping my eyes.
"Ny!" Ari's voice shook as she spoke. "come to the hospital" she cried. "tjay woke up this morning in pops apartment and when he couldn't find him, he went into his bedroom and pop.." her voice cracked. "pop was on the floor a-and he wasn't breathing"
that moment.
it all felt like it was in slow motion from here on.
i dropped my phone letting it slip right out my hand hearing it hit the floor as my vision became blurry and i instantly felt light headed.
i can't lose him.
i can't fucking lose him.
