I nod my head and tell her to continue.

"I think that's how he got himself into sleeping with that Cassandra of a lady when he was in this business trip in the Philippines. When that lady had come looking for Kenneth claiming that she had a child with him, that's when I took that wild step. I kept tabs with her nurses secretly after I sent her back to the Philippines. I knew all the checkups she went to and when she gave birth I had the nurses exchanging the kid he gave birth to with a dead kid. While she was pregnant, I had also faked a pregnancy using a fake pregnant band. Kenneth had believed and he had started getting closer to me even though we never shared rooms because I didn't want him to know the truth behind my fake pregnancy. So when I stole that kid I flew back to NewYork and surprised Kenneth with a newborn when he came back that night. He still doubted me somehow and so he conducted a paternity test and the results came out positive. He named the kid Ballice."

I smile at his choice of name even though the truth is killing me from inside. How could she do that?

"A year and some months later, Smith and Helinah gave birth to a baby girl too, You." She chokes the words out rather than telling them out.

" Then?" I can't keep my curiosity at Bay.

"I wasn't pleased honestly. They were so happy. Being a mother to a kid that wasn't mine while my own flesh and blood was somewhere far from me was killing me. Kenneth never knew it but I never breastfed Ballice and most of the time the maids are the one who took care of him. I only faked to be looking after him when his father was at home. It killed me even more when your parents used to pay us a visit. They were so happy everytime they were together and it kept hurting me. When Ballice was three years old I left Hudson for Minnesota for my kid. By then kenneth was a big shot but not that big like he is now. I had been saving and stealing some money from him. So we started anew in Minnesota, I had to be a mother for Maya. So five years later I met this guy who turned out to be exactly the kind of man I've ever wanted. He was dangerous of course but I wanted him to be with us. We got married and when you were fourteen we got back to Hudson. I found out that Smith and Helinah were still so happy together and they had a four year old son in addition. I thought I had moved on but I was mistakenly wrong. It still hurt to know that they were still so in love. I approached Helinah and told her how I felt but she gave me a deaf ear and told me to back off and let them be with peace in their marriage. I'm sorry because I wasn't able to give that, so when Helinah had gone to an interview in Chicago I had kept tabs on her privately. I knew when she was coming back, I knew the plane she was going to board and I had a hand in that plane crash. It was more of an intended explosion. I had someone plant a bomb in it"

" Noooooooooooo....." I bawl out loud my voice echoing. Before I fall down into my knees and before everything turns black, I hear her sinister voice.

"I told you that you won't take it. It needed a strong heart. Turns out yours was way weaker than I thought." Her words are followed with a loud laughter before everything around me goes silent...

When my eyes finally adjust to the light I regret leaving my glasses wherever I left them. Taking in the surrounding everything clicks in and that pain that tugged on my heart earlier comes back again and I start hyperventilating. No way.

She's no longer here. I'm laying on the ground and beside my head is a piece of card written in black ink.

The sooner you leave Ballice, the saver your family will be. I'm giving you exactly one week because you don't know what I'm capable of. Again, don't you dare mention anything that I told you to anyone if you still want to see Smith and Lodzin alive. Don't even mention to anyone that I'm in Hudson because I've been living a private life here.
