My gaze swivel over the waiting room, looking for a sign of anyone I know. A TV is playing quietly in one corner, a distraction that might help keep the waiters off what their minds might be going through. The seats closest to it stand empty, sandwiched between two sweating and shivering men. As one leans forward and fill the space with harsh, hacking coughs, I understand why no one else has jumped at the prime location. I steer my eyes to the other side of the room, the bland walls and tableful of torn magazines suddenly much more appealing but nevertheless so hospital like.

In the corridors of the hospital there is a great bustle and activity. Doctors and nursing sisters in their white uniforms are moving up and down. At a short distance, there is an operation theatre, fitted with most modern appliances. Outside the operation theatre, there is a set of stretchers and wheeled chairs which makes me move my eyes to the other side. I'm panting literally.

The smell in here, it's antiseptic, a little bitter, with undertones of the artificial fragrance contained in soaps and cleaners. It becomes more intense and diverse making me want to throw up. This is why I hate hospitals!

And then I see Hesnah on the bench outside the operation room. Her eyes are bawling out and her whole body is shaking making my stomach churn.

When I move towards her, she suddenly lifts up her head and I see her bloodshot eyes. Immediately she stands up and hugs me tightly. And she starts sobbing harder.

"Shhhhh...." I try hushing her but it only makes her sob louder.

"You didn't see her, she wasn't even breathing." She hiccups.

Oh my God!

I blink several times trying to hold in my tears. And then a young male doctor shows at that small waiting room that is outside the theatre room making Hesnah sigh hopefully as she stands and runs to him.

It's the same time that Kellane's dad and my mother runs in, both breathing heavily. My mom is with Zila who seems to be dishevelled just as much as Mr. Smith.

"What happened?!" Mr Smith's voice booms. He's loosing it. His tie is twisted, and his hair looks tousled as if he ran his hands in it several times. His eyes are bloodshot, in short he looks scary. I've never seen him look so dangerous before.

"Uhmmm." The doctor clears his throat as he looks at Hesnah first and then his eyes move to the rest of us.

I know we should be arguing vehemently with doctors, demanding results but we just stand there impatiently waiting to hear what he has to stay.

"I believe you're her relatives, or are you---"

"I'm her father can you please tell me what's going on in there?!" Mr Smith roars.

"I'm sorry sir... We asked the lady," He points at Hesnah, "And she told us to do whatever we had to do to save her. We took her to the operating room immediately since she had lost so much blood."

"Enough with that, is she okay? How is she?" This time I'm the one who cuts him off, he's blubbering a lot instead of going straight to the point.

"Can you tell us!" Mr Smith deadpans when he sees the hesitancy in his eyes. He looks at Hesnah again who nods at him with big worried eyes. It's as if they know each other.

We're all holding our hearts in our hands waiting for the bomb to drop.

"Well..." He trails. Ugh! "She had some broken ribs, one shoulder was dislocated, a broken arm, one leg got twisted, several  fractures and a concussion. She also had an internal bleeding in her head but ..."

"Oh my dear Tleigh!" My mom lets out a loud sob at the same time with Zila. Hesnah literally runs out of the hospital holding in her scream.

The doctor looks up at us sympathetically and as if that's not enough... He drops the last bombshell!
