Tleigh's pov
"Oh my God!" Cassie exclaims immediately she sees me letting a few tears roll down her cheeks as she wipes them as quick as they came.
We just arrived at uncle Kenneth's place and I was the last one to get out of the car. I had told the others to just go ahead as I tried to rationalize my breathing. My head had started feeling lighter the moment we approached their gate and everything was so nostalgic. Memories I never wanted to relive came back in a force like an avalanche down the hill.
I guess staying in the car a bit longer made Cassie assume I wasn't coming since dad had notified her earlier that we were coming before he left for work.
I'm now trying to act like everything is okay and I'm really trying not to show them how tensed I am.
"Heeey young woman!" I try a joke but I think I fail miserably. For the record, I missed Cassie but I don't know why this feels all awkward.
"Come here you dummy!" Cassie cajoles pulling me into her, embracing me tightly might I had. The moment her small hands engulfs around me, some of the tension I had dissipates and I find myself resting my head on her shoulder comfortably prolonging the hug. She's like an inch taller but that's it, I never thought I'll need an hug this much. By the time we pull away, tears are already running down her face in full force.
"I can't." She whispers pulling me again into her, now I'm lost. I look at where Zila, Cam and Tiffany are standing a few feet away, raising up a brow at them, they just shrug their shoulders except Zila who looks at me guiltily.
"Cas are you okay?" I whisper back rubbing her back up and down slowly.
"Uhhh what? Of course I'm good." She shrieks, pulling back as she wipes her tears quickly. "I'm just emotional, I didn't know I missed you that much until I saw you." She adds smiling at me warmly as she checks me out. "Do you eat? Oh my God!"
"Stop it Cas, you guys are making me feel like am just bones." I whine looking at myself. I even wore a sundress to avoid comments like these but still here I am getting them thrown at me like cheap food to prisoners.
"You aren't bones of course honey." Zila chimes in. "It's just that you weren't like that when you left, you've cut some weight."
"And some ass." Tif adds smiling devilishly."But atleast you have that hourglass figure and some hips." She adds making me snort loudly.
"Are we going to stand here all day?" Cam asks trying to save me from this torture.
"Oh no no." Cas says quickly sauntering towards her entrance door, taking two steps at a time up the staircase. "Welcome in you all, you haven't met Bella yet Tleigh. She's a big girl, she even talks now. She's with Bruce at the backyard let me call them."
"It's okay, let me go for them you guys go ahead." I offer quickly.
"Oh, but... It's okay anyway. You should join us ASAP. Our lunch is already served in the dining room." The moment those words leave Cassie's mouth, Tiffany literally stumbles into the house making us all chuckle. The only thing she's always looking forward to, is Cassie's meals same to Zila's. The culinary skills of those two Filipino sisters are unmatched.
As I walk towards the backyard I hear the kids playing. The kid I assume is Bella is giggling loudly making my heart warm. When I come into view her giggles ceases as lodzin stops tickling her, turning to look at me. Oh so this is where he disappeared to the moment we got here.
"Look who we have here?!" I dance my eyebrows getting closer to them.
"Teeeeeee!!!" Bruce yells my name as he runs into my arms. He's grown so much and they're almost the same height with lodzin but Bruce is a bit taller.
