KAITO

The depth of the sea scares me the most. It's sound calms me down yet I panic when I swim in it. I love playing with its waters and shape them. To whatever I want but what if it plays against me?

The irony is that I am Poseidon's son but... I am thalassophobic.

I am afraid of the sea.

Hindi ko din gustong sumakay sa yate. Still, I'll do what is ask of us. Between going home scared or face my father's wrath. I choose the latter.

At least I will die a hero.

I muster my strength and bravery to lift the salt water. Halos mapamura ako ng pangunahan ako ng takot. The orb of water dissolved and drops to the sea.

I tried it again-

"Mommy!" kumapit ako sa brasong nasa balikat ko. Taking deep, heavy breaths.

"El está bien?" tanong ng nagmamaneho ng yate.

Nakalimutan kong nasa gitna na kami ng dagat ngayon. Almost into the deepest part of the Carribean sea.

The driver is a descendant of Poseidon, his granfather was my brother kaya okay lang gumamit ng ability sa yateng ito.

Erina sighs. We are clinging on each other habang pinaupo niya ako sa sofa na nandito, "I'm here. You'll be okay."

"I'm okay... I'm okay..." I keep chanting to myself.

"Inom ka muna ng tubig," abot ni Rosaleen ng baso.

Ininom ko agad ito para maibsan ang kaba at takot. I'll do this no matter what. Even if I drown and sink down to the deepest part of the. And be a fish food-

Concentrate Kaius Torrin!

I close my eyes and feel the power from the trident. A current against the waves bobbing us above the seas. I pass from the shallow part going under the yatch we are on.

I feel my eyes turning to gold. Bravery surging like waves in me, washing over the cowardice I felt before.

I feel the pull under tha yatch. Buzzing and giving me strength.

"Here," tumayo ako at lumapit kay Lunox, "I can feel it. Pakisabi sa driver na dito lang."

No island is seen only the vast endless seas surround us and the yatch.

"Any monsters seen in this area?" tanong ni Erina.

"No monsters," muwestra ng driver.

"Gracias," Lunox joins us, "Go on Kaito. We'll wait for you,"

A lump forms in my throat. Mixed emotions form in my chest.

They tied a very long cord on my waist. I can swim deeper than a normal person just in case... Hihilahin lang nila ako paangat.

"Be careful of the mermaids," paalala ko sa kanila.

I dive right into the water. Facing what destiny has put in my platter-Poseidon's son.

A mermaids's song can attract and drown a fisherman-any mortal lalo na ang mga kalalakihan. They are the definition of beautiful and deadly.

Beautiful because they really are as well as their voice, and deadly because death awaits those who are capture by their appearance and graceful hymn.

A hymn of death.

The bright sun rays disappears along the clear shallow waters above.

When I feel the weaker currents, the stronger pull of the power from the trident came at me.

I roam my eyes to see my surroundings. I also see Oceanids-sea nymphs-pointing to where the trident should be.

I did not trust them.

They pulled me down when I tried to save someone. A child like me falling from a cruise ship. Hindi ko pa alam na demigod ako noon, that's why they tried to drown me.

One oceanid leers at me. Her sea green hair and fluid like eyes gaze at me. She hums their song like tale .

That won't work on me.

She hissed at me when it did not work. I glared at her-showing my superiority-until she swims away.

It beats like a drum, out of tune, without a music.

Closer. My mind tells me to dive deeper to the sea floor.

How deep is this sea?

I want to tug the cord at my left ankle. I want to do it so bad but I don't want to fail them.

Something gold glows beneath me. The pull of power is really strong. Napalitan ng tuwa ang kaba ko. An overwhelming strength and force crawls on my skin, steadily calming my nerves.

Glowing sea creatures swam around me. I touched it's jelly like transparent body.

Umangat ang tingin ko. Wala ng liwanag ang paligid ko. Only the glowing creatures give light. I'm too far from the yatch!

It is all over me. Not just physically also mentally.

I need to do this quick!

A sudden movements from below made me alert. More vigilant than I should be.

I was about to grab the trident when an enormous eyes opened. It's diameter longer than my height. The rock like skin is fluid in the waters, it also has tentacles...

Fuck!

Even tugging the cord at my ankle.

May isa pa akong naramdaman. Someone fell to the sea!

With the Kraken on my tail, and a person falling into the open sea a jolt of panic wake me up. I swim faster.

Who fell off the yacht?

Can we made it out of the sea in time?
