In the aftermath of All Might's victory over All For One, All Might was forced to go into retirement due to him using the last of his power to defeat All For One. In the day after this, life had been brought to some semblance of normalcy. In the days after this, the students of Class 1-A returned to UA to continue their Hero Studies. After a lecture from Aizawa, Hunter greeted them.
Aizawa: Hunter? What are you doing here?
Hunter: I wanted to talk with the students who went on a rescue mission.
As Hunter said this, Midoriya along with Todoroki, Kirishima, Iida and Yaoyorozu stepped up to Hunter, expecting a similar lecture from Aizawa.
Hunter: What you did that reckless and dangerous. You could've gotten yourselves killed. You stepped right into the lion's den and managed to get out of it with some help from us. With that being said, I owe you.
Upon hearing this, the group as well as the rest of Class 1-A were confused. While they knew Hunter and the Bad Batch were unorthodox, they didn't expect this.
Iida: You owe us? What do you mean by that?
Hunter: I mean I owe you. All For One had us dead to rights. We were frozen in fear. If it weren't for you kids, we wouldn't have made it out of there alive.
Hearing this shocked all of Class 1-A. To hear this coming from a Pro Hero caught everyone off guard. Hunter then removes his helmet, revealing burn marks on the left side of his face that he got from the close quarters explosion from the thermal detonator used to attack All For One. Seeing this stunned the students.
Hunter: This would've been a hell of a lot worse if you didn't show up when you did. Now I know Aizawa doesn't approve of your actions, but I say otherwise. Following the rules is good and all, but sometimes you have to bend the rules if not outright break them for the greater good. Being a Hero isn't about following the rules. It's about doing the right thing no matter what. In my book, you five are Heroes.
As Hunter said this, his words left a profound effect on Class 1-A. Aizawa couldn't help but smirk at his old friend.
Aizawa: How are the others holding up, Hunter?
Hunter: Ready for the next fight. And with All Might's retirement, it looks like the Bad Batch is going to be seeing more action.
Aizawa: I'm sure Wrecker will be pleased with that.
Hunter lets out a chuckle.
Hunter: That's all I have to say on this. I got other places I need to be. Good luck in your studies.
With that, Hunter left UA, leaving Class 1-A to reflect on his words. Before he left, Hunter saluted Class 1-A as a sign of respect. After that, Hunter made his way to the home of the Wild, Wild Pussycats. As he knocks on the door, Mandalay answers it.
Mandalay: Hunter.
Hunter: Shino. How's Tomoko?
Mandalay: Physically she's recovering, but she's been devastated by the loss of her Quirk. She...she had to go into early retirement.
Upon hearing this, Hunter was saddened by this.
Hunter: I'm sorry, Shino. We did everything we could.
Mandalay: There was nothing you could've done, Hunter. I'm just glad you all got back in one piece.
Mandalay then lifts Hunter's helmet slowly and saw the scars Hunter sustained in the fight with All For One. Saddened by this sight, Mandalay places a hand on Hunter's face.
Mandalay: You shouldn't be treated like outcasts. You've given as much as any other Hero.
Hunter: I didn't sign up for fame and recognition, Shino. Neither did the rest of the 99. We're here to get the job done. No more. No less.
Mandalay: I understand, but the treatment you and the others have gone through isn't right. You deserve better.
Hunter: Frankly, I don't give a damn what other people think of us. I do my job and that's all that matters. But now Heroes are needed now more than ever. All Might's retirement is going to embolden a lot of bad people. All For One might be out of the picture, but most of the League of Villains were able to get away.
As Hunter said this, he also thought about Swordkil and the Shadow Dogs. hey have been quiet ever since their encounter at the Quirk Training Camp. He knew that they were a significant threat.
Hunter: Our work's never done, Shino.
Mandalay: It never is, isn't it, Hunter?
Hunter: Take care of yourself, Shino. And tell Tomoko the Bad Batch wishes her a speedy recovery.
Mandalay: I'm sure she'll appreciate that, Hunter. She's very grateful for what you've done for her. Thank you, Hunter. For everything. No matter what anyone says, you're a Hero.
Hunter smirks as the two share a kiss. After the kiss, Hunter puts his helmet back on. Hunter then walks away from the house, ready to continue his job as a Hero of the Bad Batch. He knew that Villains would be ready to strike a Hero Society will All Might gone. With the League of Villains and the Shadow Dogs still at large, Hunter and the Bad Batch had their work cut out for them. Despite this looming threat, the Bad Batch were unfazed. In fact, this was just another day a the office for the Bad Batch.
