Jiro soon made her way to the address Aizawa had given her. She soon found herself standing before what appeared to be an old military base. Jiro looked up at the roof and saw the Havoc Marauder.
Jiro: This has to be the place. Here goes nothing...
Jiro then approaches the door and knocks on it. After a tense moment of silence, Jiro hears footsteps from the other side of the door. The door soon opens and Tech is seen on the other side.
Tech: Can I help you?
Jiro: Is...is the rest of the Bad Batch in?
Tech: Why are you asking?
Jiro: I'm Kyoka Jiro. I'm from Mr. Aizawa's class. We met during the Internships.
Tech: I remember you. You were interning with Death Arms when we dealt with that hostage situation.
Jiro: Mr. Aizawa sent me. I came here because I wanted to study under you for the Hero Work Studies.
Upon hearing this, Tech was genuinely surprised.
Tech: Well this just got interesting. I'm not the one you should be asking. Follow me.
Tech then leads Jiro through the base. Eventually, they reached the war room. Wrecker was doing weight training using a large metal beam. Crosshair was polishing his 773 Firepuncher Sniper Rifle. Hunter was looking over intel about Swordkil and the Shadow Dogs. It didn't take long before everyone noticed Jiro.
Crosshair: What the hell's the rookie doing here, Tech?
Tech: Believe it or not, she's interested in working with us.
Upon hearing this, the room fell silent. Jiro felt intimidated by all the eyes of the Bad Batch on her. Wrecker dropped the metal beam as Hunter approached Jiro.
Hunter: So you want to join the 99?
Jiro: Yes. Will you take me?
Hunter was amused by Jiro's bold words. He walked over to a nearby table and picked up a photograph. He then hands it to Jiro. In the photo was the Bad Batch as well as Aizawa, Swordkil and a familiar Pro Hero.
Jiro: Is that Hawks?! The Number Two Hero?!
Hunter: Oh yeah. Hawks did good work in the 99. Same with your homeroom teacher. But that's ancient history. Now tell me why you want to join the 99?
As Hunter asked Jiro that question, Jiro thought back to the words she spoke to Aizawa in regards for her reason to join the Bad Batch.
Jiro: After hearing your speech, I realize what kind of Hero I want to be. I want to be the kind of Hero that helps people no matter what. The kind that will put their lives on the line even if nobody cares.
Upon hearing this, Hunter smirks.
Hunter: Not bad, kid. But I hope you know what you're getting yourself into. Now we don't normally take in people. If you want to join the 99, you're going to have to go through hell.
Jiro took a moment to think about what she was getting into. At that point, Crosshair stepped in to give his opinion.
Crosshair: Are you seriously considering this? The last thing we need is a rookie to drag around.
Tech: We could use another pair of hands. All Might's retirement is going to embolden a lot of Villains. Not to mention that...other business.
Hunter took the words of Crosshair and Tech into consideration. He soon turned to Wrecker.
Hunter: What about you, Wrecker? Got anything to say before I make my decision?
Wrecker then approached Jiro. He towered over Jiro which intimidated her. Wrecker then lets out a hearty laugh as he pats her on the back which nearly knocked her off her feet.
Hunter: I'll take that as a yes. Not bad, kid. Wrecker must like you.
Jiro: Is that a...good thing?
Hunter: Guess we'll find out. So far it's two to one. That means my vote is all that's left. Make your case, kid.
At that point, Jiro knew that Hunter could decide whether she would join the Bad Batch.
Jiro: When I got knocked out during the Villain attack at the Training Camp. Since then, I've felt useless. Meanwhile you four saved my skin as well as my friends even though people treat you like Villains. I want to be the kind of Heroes you are.
Hunter smirked upon Jiro's words. He was impressed at Jiro's reasons for joining the 99.
Hunter: All right then. Welcome to the 99.
Upon hearing this, Jiro was at a loss of words.
Hunter: Before we get started, what's your Hero name?
Jiro: My Hero name? It's Earphone Jack.
Hunter: Not bad, but I think you can do better.
At that point, Jiro took a moment to think up of a alternate Hero name. She thought about the names of the Bad Batch. Their names took not only their Quirks into account, but their skills and personalities. Based on that, it didn't take long for Jiro to come up with her new Hero name.
Jiro: How about...Echo?
Hunter: Echo....not bad. All right, we'll start your training immediately.
Jiro: I'm ready!
Hunter: Up until now, Aizawa's been putting you through the wringer. But as of now, we're going to put you through hell. Your body and your mind will be tested to it's absolute limit. I hope you're ready for it.
In that moment, Jiro had been accepted into the Bad Batch. Now was the time for Jiro to begin her training. As Hunter said, the training would not be easy and it would test the very limit of Jiro's resolve. Despite this, Jiro was more than willing to endure this training.
