After rescuing Omega from the Shadow Dogs, the Bad Batch took Omega back to their base. As Tech did some analysis on Omega's condition, Hunter and the rest of the Bad Batch waited outside Tech's room to give him the space he needed to check on Omega. After a moment of uneasy silence, Jiro finally speaks up.
Jiro: Hunter, do you think Omega's going to be okay?
Hunter: I'm not quite sure. There's no telling what the poor kid went through. If Eri is to go off anything, it's that Omega most likely endured wretched conditions.
As Hunter said this, Jiro couldn't help but see bad for Omega. She knew about the horrors Eri endured under Overhaul. She could only imagine what horrors Omega endured. The feeling was shared by Hunter. Throughout his time as a Pro Hero, he has seen some terrible sights in his life. But the thought of what Omega went through deeply disturbed him in ways that he never thought were possible. After some time, Tech exits the room with Omega.
Hunter: How is she, Tech?
Tech: Physically, she's completely healthy.
Wrecker: So she's all good?
Tech: Not exactly. While running some scans on Omega, I found something odd with her. Specifically, there's a growth located in her brain. I believe that this irregularity has something to do with her Quirk.
Crosshair: How so?
Tech: Omega told me that Swordkil's Quirk was not the first Quirk that she's....copied.
Upon hearing this, the rest of the Bad Batch became confused. Though they recalled Omega saying that Swordkil's Quirk was not her own, it was still a mystery of how she did it. As Hunter glanced over to Omega, she appeared visibly nervous.
Hunter: Tech, were you able to identify her Quirk?
Tech: Surprisingly no. The description of Omega's Quirk doesn't match any of the registered Quirks in both national and international databases. But there was something else. In that growth I just mentioned, there's an unknown genetic makeup that seems to allow Omega to copy and store any Quirk she comes into contact with. It's why she was able to use Swordkil's Quirk.
Jiro: You mean Omega can copy Quirks? Like Monoma from Class 1-B?
Tech: Not exactly. Neito Monoma's Quirk allows him to copy a person's Quirk by contact. Omega's Quirk allows her to copy someone's Quirk simply by looking at them. Another thing to add is that Monoma's Quirk is limited to one use for a limited time. Not to mention that there are some Quirks that he can't copy, such as accumulation-type Quirks. I'm still looking into the Quirk and it's capabilities. But as it stands, Omega can copy and store someone's Quirk and is able to use that Quirk at any given moment.
As Tech says this, the rest of the Bad Batch fell silent as they didn't know how to properly process this. As for Omega, she looked upon her hands as if there was something wrong. Up until this point, Omega had no idea what her Quirk was. She remembered all the lectures from Overhaul of how Quirks were a disease that needed to be cured. As she learned about the nature of her Quirk, a part of her believed that something was wrong with her.
Omega: Is...is something wrong with me?
Hunter: There's nothing wrong with you, Omega. Don't you ever think that there is.
Crosshair: What are we going to do about the kid?
Tech: I ran some searches on the national and international databases for any missing children's reports, but found none matching her description.
Jiro: We...we can't just leave her! She needs our help!
As Jiro said this, Hunter took a moment to think of his options. He looked to Omega and saw a frightened child with no one to go to and with nowhere else to go. She was on her own. Hunter could only imagine the horrors that Omega had been through and the horrors she would've endured had the Bad Batch not rescued her. On the other hand, Hunter had no idea how to raise a child. He was a Pro Hero who put his life on the line on a daily basis. All his battles against Villains never prepared him for a situation like this. But he turned to Omega once again and saw the frightened child with nothing to her name and in desperate need of a home. Not only that, but Hunter knew that the Shadow Dogs would hunt her. After some time to think, Hunter takes a deep breath.
Hunter: Listen, Omega. I can't imagine what those bastards put you through. But I promise you that nothing will ever hurt you again. We'll look after you for as long as we can.
As Hunter said this, a smile fell on Omega's face and tears began falling down her face. Without hesitation, she runs up to Hunter and hugs him. Hunter was taken aback by this, but returns the hug.
Omega: T...thank you.
In that moment, Hunter had taken on the difficult task of looking after Omega. For Omega, this was an opportunity for her to finally have a second chance at a normal life. No longer would she suffer unimaginable pain from Overhaul. She now had something that she could call a family. But for the Bad Batch, this would be unfamiliar territory. Despite this, the Bad Batch would look after Omega and care for her to the best of their abilities.
