As the Bad Batch continued to face the backlash from Crosshair's betrayal, the Bad Batch prepared for their hunt for Crosshair. They knew that the hunt for Crosshair would be difficult considering how well versed Crosshair was in their tactics. During this time, Jiro took Omega to the UA Dorms to help get her mind off the situation. In early December one Sunday morning, the students of Class 1-A were celebrating the arrival of the snowy weather. Todoroki and Bakugo were absent as they were about to attempt to get their Provisional Hero Licenses. As they spoke about Bakugo and Todoroki, Kaminari was flipping through the channels on the TV. When he reaches a news station, it reports on the death of a Pro Hero.
News Reporter(TV): Last night, Yoroi Musha: the Number 9 Pro Hero was found murdered in his home. We've confirmed that the former Pro Hero turned Villain Crosshair is responsible for the crime. Also found at the scene of the crime is low level Villain known only as Gunsmith.
As Kaminari watched the news report, Jiro and Omega overheard the report. As they approached the couch where Kaminari was sitting, Omega bowed her head in sadness.
Omega: How...how could Crosshair do something like this?
Jiro: I....I don't know.
Kaminari: Hard to believe that guy's a Villain now. That's got to be rough.
Jiro: Just....just turn the channel, Denki.
Kaminari: R...right.
When Kaminari flips the channel, it shows a commercial of the Detnerat Company. In said commercial, the President of the company, Rikiya Yotsubashi, appears, reminding his viewers that the rise of Quirks caused changes in the manufacturing industry as making mass items became obsolete since there would be people with very varying body types. As the commercial ends, it was clear that Jiro and Omega were still troubled by the earlier news report.
Yaoyorozu: Are you okay, Jiro?
Jiro: I'll...I'll be fine, Yaomomo. It's just that....seeing Crosshair on the news like that is still hard to swallow.
Yaoyorozu: I saw the report on the Bad Batch's press conference. I can't even imagine what that was like.
Jiro: The sooner we find Crosshair and take him down, the sooner....
Jiro paused. She still didn't know what would happen to the Bad Batch in the event that they capture Crosshair. Based on Rampart's words, it was clear that the Bad Batch would face serious repercussions despite it not being deserved. Despite the uncertainty of it all, Jiro remained calm.
Jiro: We'll catch Crosshair and bring him to justice.
As Jiro said this, she got a call on her phone. When she answers it, Hunter's voice was heard.
Hunter(Phone): Kyoka, bring Omega back to base.
Jiro: What's going on?
Hunter(Phone): I'll tell you once you and Omega are back at base. Get your gear ready.
As Jiro hung up the phone, she took Omega and left the UA Dorms. After that, she gathered her gear and made her way back to the Bad Batch's base. When they arrived, they both saw the Bad Batch fully geared up.
Jiro: What's going on here?
Hunter: We've got a possible lead on Crosshair's location. Tech?
Tech: Thank you. When we heard about the death of Gunsmith, we were able to search his body. We found his cellphone. While I was digging through the data on his cellphone, I came across an encrypted file. Upon breaking the encryption, I found plans for some sort of meeting between the League and the Meta Liberation Army in Deika City.
Jiro: Meta Liberation Army?
Hunter: A large, powerful Villain organization that follows the philosophy that the free usage of Quirks is a basic human right and emphasizes liberation over regulation. We've been investigating them for years. If that encryption is accurate, then that means Crosshair will be there.
Wrecker: Well what are we waiting for?! Let's get him!
Jiro: What if it's a trap?
Hunter: It may be a trap, but we're out of time. The longer Crosshair is free, the more public pressure we're faced to catch him. And it'll only be a matter of time until we're declared public enemies.
As Hunter said this, the gravity of the situation became clear to Jiro. In essence, the Bad Batch were on borrowed time.
Hunter: As I said, this may be our best shot to finding and catching Crosshair.
Tech: It won't be easy. Deika City has long been known as the "Liberated District" where 90% of the inhabitants, including the Heroes, are soldiers for liberation.
Hunter: Meaning we'll essentially be walking in enemy territory and put ourselves in the crossfire.
Omega: I'm ready to help!
Hunter: No Omega. This mission is too dangerous.
Omega: But....I want to help!
Hunter: I know you want to, but I can't focus on the mission if I'm concerned for your safety.
Omega fell silent as she hung her head down. Jiro took a deep breath as Hunter turned his attention to her.
Hunter: This is it, Jiro. If we can capture Crosshair, then we'll have one less thing to worry about.
Jiro: What about Rampart?
Hunter: We can worry about the Hero Public Safety Commission when the time comes. For now, our priority is finding Crosshair. Let's get to work.
With that, the Bad Batch geared up for their mission and boarded the Havoc Marauder. Just before the boarding ramps closed, Omega snuck inside and hid in the Havoc Marauder's cargo hold. As the Havoc Marauder took off, the Bad Batch prepared for their mission. Little did any of them realize was they would bear witness to something terrifying.
