September 1993

Severus didn't know what game Dumbledore was playing at, but this was taking it too far.

He chose this man to teach Defense Against the Dark Arts over him?

Severus had created spells darker than this man could cast!

He nervously glanced to the still empty seat beside himself and could only hope May wouldn't make it to the welcome feast.

She'd been given a few assignments from her old unit chief that required her expertise over the summer. Nothing big she'd assured him, but she was due back any day now.

And he really wasn't looking forward to the 'new Professor' trying to drag up old memories she didn't have.

It had almost been a near thing, but in true May fashion, she threw open the doors to the great hall the second food had appeared on plates.

She was drenched to the bone.
"Whew! It's raining dogs out there guys, ten out of ten would not recommend."

He watched as Granger approached her first, casting a drying charm he's sure she learned in a book. The third year girl hugged May before saying something that made May wave her hand dismissively.

Next one of the Weasley twins spoke up, Severus couldn't be sure which one it was.

"Aww why you gotta go ruin our fun Granger, quite liked the look of her soaking wet." They both smirked.

May's eyes went wide before she pulled a detention slip from her robes and handed it to him.

She ruffled the Potter boy's hair, shooting a quiet 'thanks kid' at him before continuing to her seat beside Severus and sitting down.

She smiled at him

"What did I miss?"
