You'll be alright, no one can hurt you now.....
Harry slowly opened his eyes from the floor of the classroom. Blinking the darkness, and haunting sounds of the lullaby from his head.
He looked up to see Professor Lupin standing above him again.
Harry sighed.
"Don't get discouraged Harry, you just have to keep focus." He told him.
He helped Harry off the floor and handed him a piece of chocolate.
"Are you still hearing your parents?" The Professor asked.
Harry nodded as he looked down at the floor. "Yeah, dad's yelling, mum's pleading, and I think I hear her singing to me..."
The Professor snorted a laugh "Oh you poor boy..."
Harry squinted his eyes "What?" He asked.
"Oh your mother was incredibly tone deaf, I can't imagine being forced to listen to her sing again..."
Harry's brow furrowed "But this one's beautiful, kind of haunting, but beautiful. It's a lullaby..."
Professor Lupin's face softened in understanding. "Ahh... I'm afraid that's not your mother." He told him.
Just as Harry was going to ask, the Professor cut him off. "It's Miss Night."
Harry's eyes widened "Professor Night?"
Professor Lupin nodded. "She and your mother were close, called each other sisters." He chuckled softly to himself "your mother loved that, since her and Petunia didn't get on well."
Harry softened his accusations "Miss Night sang me lullaby's?" He asked.
"Yes. She doesn't remember of course, but sometimes, if you listen carefully when she's focused on something, you'll hear her still sing them to herself."
Harry wished to himself, not for the first time, that Professor Night could remember past life.
"Severus no!"
"Meae, I need to get caught up on this work, and I really can't deal with the little pricks in my class today..... don't make me say 'please'."
She smirked at him "You never say 'please'."
"I know."
She stared at him with a calculating gaze before she sighed and dropped her crossed arms.
"Fine!" She yelled exasperated "what am I even supposed to be teaching them?"
Severus turned in his office to the drawers behind him, grabbing several pieces of parchment. All with extensive notes on the days lessons.
