September 1994

It was a few days after the start of term that Harry ran into her in the halls.

"Meae!!" He yelled.

"Harry, hello! How are you doing? excited about the tournament?" She smiled at him.

"Yeah" he responded. "Where are you headed? You don't have class right now?"

Her smiled softened as she responded "no not right now, I'm headed towards the kitchens actually. Cooking helps calm my mind. Are you busy? Do you want to join me?"

"I'm only on break from classes, but I can walk you there." He said.

Truthfully he'd meant to spend a little more time with her, they lived together now after all. Their schedules just didn't seem to intersect well, as of late. Harry was always in classes when she wasn't teaching, and it's not like they could sit together for meals and chat about their days. These few moments in between their hectic schedules were about it for now.

"Sir Nicholas mentioned to me, at the feast, that you're in the kitchens a lot. I didn't know house elves worked here, Hermione's in an uproar about it, calls it slave labor."

"As the Muggle Studies Professor, I understand where she's coming from. However, the elves here are treated extremely well, they're given anything they wish really. Though those standards are up to the current headmaster, technically they serve him, but Dumbledore wouldn't dare let them be mistreated."

"They let you cook with them though, that's nice." He replied.

She chuckled lightly "they don't really like it when you encroach on their jobs, but... I think one of them served my namesake, and after the rest of the Night Bloods died, they came here?"

"Oh, how do you know?" He asked her curiously

"I don't really... just a feeling I guess... anyway they're always a little grumpy at first since they practically live to serve, but because it's something I need to calm myself, I told them they'd be serving me best by letting me help."

Harry thought that made sense but something made him curious.

"What's troubling you so much you need to calm yourself?" He asked.

Harry watched her face scrunch up like she was thinking of how to reply.

"Just a feeling, it's hard to explain. It's like a nagging in the back of my head... something bad is coming... I just don't know what yet." She told him.

Harry knew exactly what she was talking about, his scar had been hurting again. He hadn't told anyone besides his friends about it. Hermione said he should tell Sirius but he'd already worried him with his dreams, he didn't want to worry him with this too.

"Why do you look guilty? My bad feeling isn't your fault you know. It's not the first time this has happened, and if anything you've helped it ebb a bit, I should be thanking you."

Harry didn't realize he needed to hear that until he felt some of his stress melt away.

It gave him the courage to open his mouth.

"My scar has been hurting." He told her.

She turned to him confused before it seemed recognition lit her face.

"Oh! The one from Voldemort right... can't believe I forgot that, sorry."

Harry chuckled at her, it was comical because it was an honest reaction.

She really didn't pay attention to the significance of his very existence. To her, he really was just a fourteen year old boy she'd dragged into her life.

It was a refreshing feeling.

To just be Harry with someone.

Nothing more important than that.

"Right well, have you told Siri or Remus yet?" She asked.

"No... I don't want to worry them. It could be nothing!"

"Do you think it's nothing?"

Harry sighed "I want it to be nothing..."

She smiled lightly at him.
"I know the feeling, and you shouldn't stress about worrying them. It's our job to worry about you.... I mean have you met Molly Weasley? Woman's worried constantly, having seven kids'll do that to you though I expect."

Harry thought it over.

Families did worry about each other. He worried for Sirius and his friends constantly, though usually it was worry over what knowing him would put them through...

He supposed she had a point.

Families worried about each other.

He glanced at her from the corner of his eye.

She said she's been having a bad feeling too...

"I'll make you a deal." He proposed

She glanced at him and raised her brow
"Oh? Alright I'm listening..."

Harry smirked mischievously
"I'll tell Sirius about my scar hurting, if you tell him about your bad feeling."

She scrunched her brows displeased with his ultimatum before finally sighing.
"Alright you have a deal."

She held her hand out for him to shake.

He took it.

Idk anyways sorry the chapter is short but I didn't want their conversation to be too long and it's really just a filler for better things to come.
