Sirius Black was getting the lecture of a lifetime.

"It's not like I can just go up to him and say 'hey sorry for scaring you, I was actually going for the rat you're so fond of!'" He argued.

"You shouldn't have done it in the first place! It was incredibly reckless!"

"I'm a Gryffindor! What more do you want from me?! It's part of the motto! Recklessly Brave!"

"RECKLESSLY IDIOTIC IS MORE LIKE IT!"

The two friends stared at each other as they caught their breath and tempers.

"You need to be smart about this Siri. I will not let you go back to that place..."

Sirius sighed as he looked at the lost expression on his Blueberry's face.

"I can't let him live." He told her. "But I am really sorry about scaring Harry's friend, he really wasn't meant to wake up. I was going for the rat."

"Where do you disappear to all the time?" Severus asked as she sat down for dinner.

She narrowed her brows at him before understanding crossed her face.

"Oh I found a wandering dog a while back, I bring him food every now and then to make sure he's still alive and healthy." She answered.

Severus stared blankly at the girl
"You shouldn't be wandering around alone, not with Black on the loose, And certainly not with the dementors everywhere."

She smiled fondly at him
"Sirius Black isn't coming after me, and I can handle a few Dementors."

He gripped her hand in his
"It is not just the dementors you need to worry about..."

She sighed
"Severus, the ministry isn't going to come after me here, not with Dumbledore around, not with you protecting me."

Severus felt a knot lodge in his stomach

That was exactly the problem,

How could he protect her if he didn't know what was coming?

"I'm just asking you to be careful."

May sent a soft smile his way.
"I will be. Promise."

She squeezed his hand in hers
"No matter what."

"No matter what." He toned back.

But he couldn't help being afraid of the 'what' to come.

March 1994

The few months since Christmas had been busy. Classes were getting harder as they neared their exams. He'd received the Firebolt, only to lose it, to get it back again.

Harry's extra lessons with Professor Lupin had been going well, tonight was the last lesson.

Harry had learned a lot about his parents from Professor Lupin throughout their lessons.

Apparently Miss Night had been a good friend of his mother's, even helped take care of him after he was born so she could get some rest. He so badly wanted to ask Miss Night about his mother, but he knew she couldn't remember, so he refrained.

Harry wished she could remember anything about her previous life, she seemed to be right in the middle of everything he was missing, and she didn't even know.

Harry often thought that was dangerous for the woman, not knowing, because all the professors seemed to think Sirius Black could be after her too.

When he'd overheard them discussing Blacks part in his parents death, he'd also heard them discuss Black's obsession with the kind Professor. They'd shared a lot of familial similarities, and their friendship soon changed for Black into love. When she'd lost her memories, they'd mentioned Black becoming particularly enraged and distraught.

They thought her memory loss was what prompted Black to betray his only friends, his grief had turned him insane.

Harry had asked Lupin about it once.

"They were friends, almost family, like she was to all of us. Before, I would have told you no, but now? I'm not sure if Anyone really knew him. I do know she'd never loved him that way though, her heart was always set somewhere else it seemed."

That was all he really got out of him on the matter.

Miss Night and Professor Lupin were in the classroom that night when Harry arrived. He only briefly heard part of their conversation.

"- the Twins birthday tomorrow, and I have them for class. No gifts, obviously. But something? They'll be 16 this year, that's big in America! Oh! In America I remember we celebrate in classrooms with food! I could bake something, I bet Liddy will help me!"

He peaked through the door way to see her sitting on one of the desks in the classroom while Professor Lupin got everything set up for Harry's arrival.

"If you bake something you better share, your baking is godsend." The Professor said.

"You've had my baking?" She asked

Professor Lupin looked at her and smiled kindly
"Yeah. You and Peter used to cook in the kitchens all the time during school, James and I swore we were going to get fat and lazy from your baking one day."

It got quite between the two for a moment

"James is.... Harry's father?" She asked

Professor Lupin sighed sadly

"Yes, he died at the end of the war."

She nodded at his words and winced in pain slightly before continuing on.

"I never had kids right?"

He shook his head
"No, from what you told me before, the magic caused you to be sterile. So, no, no kids."

She nodded again smiling sadly
"I guess that's a good thing then, how sad would it be if I just forgot them?"

Silence encased the two again and Harry decided now was as good a time as any to enter.

"Good evening Professors." He said as he entered the room.

Professor Night smiled brightly at Harry when she saw him.

"Harry! Good evening. Professor Lupin has been telling me you've been doing wonderfully in your lessons. I'm proud of you, the patronus charm is hard work." She told him.

Harry blushed slightly at her compliment.
"Can you cast a patronus Miss Night?"

Her eyes widened slightly as she blew a breath through her lips.
"Uhh... good question Harry.... I haven't cast one in years... so I'm pretty sure, but that could have changed in the time I lost?" She looked over at Professor Lupin as if asking his input.

Professor Lupin looked slightly panicked
"Why don't we try after Harry's lesson?" He asked "this is the last of them after all, we should focus on that." He rushed.

Harry thought he looked like he'd seen a ghost.

"Oh of course sorry! Do continue, you two. I should really get to the kitchens anyways if I want to finish baking tonight." She climbed off of the desk she was perched on. "I'll talk to you soon Remus!" She smiled at the two, before exiting the room.

Harry turned towards Professor Lupin after she left
"Why-"

"Because I know what her patronus is, and I'm not ready to see it yet." He answered before turning towards Harry "Now, where did we leave off last time?"
