"I'm not finding anything." Severus heard a sigh just before the person across from him closed their book. "I think we're going to have to make it ourselves..."

Severus sighed as he shut his book as well.
"I was afraid you would say that..."

He looked across the study table at Mason. They'd been working on this problem all year, and they were so close to solving it!

They'd figured out all the theory behind what they wanted to do, they just couldn't figure out how to do it.

"Alright let's go over what we know, shall we?" Mason said holding her hands in front of her.

"Dumbledore put a bind on your powers when you were a baby. That binding kept your magic from growing, like a plug, It didn't however stop its ability to grow." Severus recounted.

Mason nodded at this "yes, and when I went through treatment-"

"Torture." Severus corrected.

Mason rolled her eyes at this. "-it basically force fed a multitude of usable energy to my magic which grew impossibly and started fracturing the bindings."

"Which is ridiculous, because without them you would have grown to accommodate them instead of your body basically failing and allowing them to completely over take you turning you into a ticking time bomb of unharnessed magical energy!" He rambled grumpily.

Mason dropped her hands and sighed at him in exasperation.

"Not helping." She told him.

Severus rolled his eyes and shrugged.

"We know the best permanent way to keep that from happening is to basically create a bridge for your body and magic, so the energy can be shared between two people instead of just one." He continued.

"We know it has to be a soul bonding. Meaning the other person has to be my soulmate."

"And we know we can use the patronus charm to find said soulmate, however we don't know how to actually bind the Souls after we find that out." He finished for her.

The two sat in contemplative silence for a while, trying to figure out what their next step should be.

"We could always ask a teacher...?" Mason said absently.

Severus scoffed "oh sure, and we'll just hand you in to the ministry while we're at it... don't be daft, it doesn't suit you."

"No! I meant, in theory is it even possible? Like how would somebody actually do it? We could ask that, say we were curious when we heard about the Patronus Charm thing."

Severus looked at her like she was insane.
"They'd have to be the most naive teacher on the planet, to answer a question like that..."
